Directly reports to
Materials Manager
MPI Calera is seeking a Shipping and Receiving Clerk. This role will assist with accurately and efficiently handling all incoming and outgoing materials, focusing on utilizing our MRP, D365. This position ensures accurate inventory transactions, process incoming and outgoing orders, and supports timely delivery of goods while adhering to company safety and quality standards.
Scope of Responsibilities
  • 1st Responsibility - Ensuring personal safety and the safety of your team members.
  • Assist supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Wear appropriate PPE, including fall protection, respiratory protection, hearing protection, foot, hand, head, and eye protection.
  • Assist in preparing shipping documents, including packing slips and shipping labels, using the MRP system.
  • Learn to coordinate with carriers for pickups and deliveries.
  • Help package and label products for shipment according to company specifications.
  • Assist in verifying the accuracy of outgoing shipments.
  • Learn to process shipping transactions in the MRP system with guidance.
  • Help maintain organized shipping records.
  • Follow all shipping safety procedures.
  • Solve problems and adjust forms and documents as needed due to last-minute load changes. Attention to detail is required, especially during data entry, to ensure line items are correctly placed in the software system. Use the system to locate, print, sort, and distribute picking lists to product assemblers.
  • Coordinate with carriers, suppliers, and internal departments regarding shipment status and delivery schedules.
  • Investigate and resolve receiving discrepancies, damaged shipments, and inventory variances.
  • Prepare, create, and distribute paperwork related to shipping products, including picking lists, packing slips, and Bills of Lading.
  • Communicate via radio with truck drivers, supervisors, and team members throughout the day to facilitate smooth operations.
  • Assist in receiving and inspecting incoming materials and verifying quantities and condition.
  • Help unload and unpack deliveries.
  • Learn to process receiving transactions in the MRP system with guidance.
  • Assist in accurately recording and tracking incoming materials.
  • Report any damaged or incorrect shipments to supervisors.
  • Help maintain a clean and organized receiving area.
  • Assist in routing received materials to appropriate locations.

Position Requirements
  • Standing, walking, stooping, balancing, kneeling, reaching, and sitting are some of the physical requirements.
  • Must be able to meet and adhere to physical requirements as well as wearing the appropriate PPE (steel toed boots, safety glasses, hearing protection and mask).
  • Will be required to work in the following conditions: heat, cold, noise, and vibration.
  • Must be able to work in dust and fumes.
  • Must have the ability to operate forklift or overhead crane.
  • Possible overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
  • Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
  • Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.

  • Experience with freight coordination, receiving documentation, inventory control, and warehouse operations.
  • A proven record of attention to detail, process discipline, and cross-functional communication.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills with positive attitude.
