Description:

The Senior Alliance Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the finance operations, reporting, billing support, contract compliance monitoring, and close support for global alliance arrangements. This responsibility includes royalty income, royalty expense, R&D service revenue, milestone income and expense, contingent consideration from acquisitions, intercompany activity for alliance agreements, partner reporting, contract term compliance, and related alliance financial processes.This position works cross-functionally with business development, FP&A, legal, R&D, regulatory affairs, commercial, tax, treasury, technical accounting, revenue accounting, general accounting and international finance teams. The role provides financial and operational support for monthly closes, audits, forecasting, partner reporting, contract compliance, and management reporting processes.


Essential Functions:

  • Books global royalty income from alliance agreements, prepares global royalty statements and supporting calculations.
  • Monitors billing status and collections and provides status to business development.
  • Maintains global royalty income trackers and provides timely reporting to business partners and the finance leadership team.
  • Coordinates global booking of royalty expense.
  • Prepares and issues global royalty statements, supports payment coordination, maintains documentation, and resolves global royalty reporting questions or discrepancies.
  • Maintains global royalty expense trackers and provides timely reporting to business partners and the finance leadership team.
  • With the assistance of valuation specialists, updates and books the quarterly valuation and tracking of contingent consideration from acquisitions.
  • Monitors global finance-related contract term compliance and accounting for global alliance agreements, including reporting deadlines, payment terms, royalty provisions, milestone provisions, profit-share mechanics, audit rights, reimbursement requirements, and other contractual obligations.
  • Escalates issues to the finance leadership team and legal.
  • Coordinates R&D service revenue billings and bookings and milestone income and expense.
  • Works with R&D, regulatory affairs, FP&A and business development to confirm milestone achievement, invoice timing, billing support, expense support, and partner communications.
  • Coordinates intercompany transactions for international alliance agreements, including cross-border billings, allocations, settlements, supporting schedules, foreign currency considerations, and alignment with the international finance teams, tax and treasury.
  • Prepares robust SOX documentation for all processes directly impacting the general ledger.
  • Handles ad hoc requests, such as financial modelling for business development opportunities, from Finance leadership.
