Description:

SEIU Healthcare 1199NW is a powerful, member-led healthcare workers union seeking a Research Analyst or Senior Research Analyst to lead research projects, shape campaign strategy and execute campaign tactics in partnership with union leadership, members and other staff. This position reports to the Assistant Research Director, and is a member of our truly incredible Research Department.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to innovation in SEIU Healthcare 1199NW's approach to research and campaign strategy.
  • Develop and test new tools, theories and strategies in coordination with SEIU Healthcare 1199NW leadership.
  • Examine market and industry trends, analyze the strategies of key market players and track relevant policy and legislative developments.
  • Carry out all aspects of strategic research including compiling, analyzing, summarizing, and presenting information on industries, companies, individuals, and issues in support of the unionโ€™s program.
  • Develop presentations to outline and define your research outcomes and findings that meet the needs of a variety of audiences
  • Design and execute comprehensive research plans.
  • Develop and implement a weekly work plans
  • Learn and develop new skills
  • Perform other duties as required to support the union and its mission


The position can be located throughout Washington or Montana. SEIU 1199NW offers excellent benefits including fully paid medical including reimbursement for co-pays, fully paid dental insurance, life insurance and LTD. Retirement benefits include pension and 6% employer contribution to 401k. Excellent paid time off, 14 holidays, sick time and a strong parental leave benefit. Senior Researcher receives an additional annual salary premium.


Requirements:

  • financial and public policy analysis skills
  • strong writing, presentation and organizing skills

  • willingness to work long and irregular hours as needed
  • proficiency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • 3-5 yearsโ€™ experience as a researcher*
  • 5+ years' experience as a senior researcher
*willing to consider investigative journalists, campaigners, human rights researchers, lawyers, policy analyst and others with strategic research experience
