Job description

The Electronics Science and Technology Division (ESTD) conducts programs of basic science and applied research and development. A technically diverse staff of experimental, theoretical, and computational physicists, surface and materials scientists, chemists, and electrical, electronic, chemical and mechanical engineers reflects the multidisciplinary nature of the Division's research.

This position involves:

  • Optoelectronic Devices
  • Thin-film processing spin-coating and electrochemical polymerization
  • Materials Development
  • Nanocrystal synthesis
  • Characterization Techniques
  • X-ray diffraction (XRD): powder and synchrotron-based
  • X-ray scattering (SAXS, WAXS)
  • Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM)
  • Atomicforcemicroscopy (AFM)
  • Neutronreflectometry (NR)
  • Optical spectroscopy (FTIR)
  • UV-Vis,photoluminescence
  • Ellipsometric-porosimetry
  • Differentialscanning calorimetry (DSC)
  • Inductively-coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES)
  • Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy

Essential Responsibilities: Will perform this above as directed.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands: Work environment is desk/computer and lab oriented with no heavy lifting or strong mental demands present.

Minimum Requirements: Knowledge of electronic materials techniques, including analysis, testing, creation, and related general computer programming.

Clearance Required: Secret

Minimum Education: PhD, Chemistry or similar

Minimum Years of Experience: 2-5

Preferred Qualifications:

-Knowledge of nanocrystal synthesis and hybrid nanostructures

$80,000 - $120,000
