Role Overview

Weโ€™re looking for a detail-obsessed Criminal Researcher to join our remote team. Youโ€™ll play a key role in our criminal background screening process, conducting searches across county, state, and federal court systems to identify reportable criminal records for employment screenings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze court record documents and dockets with high accuracy
  • Conduct in-depth online research using government databases and tools
  • Order and verify legal documents from researchers and court clerks
  • Interpret legal documents and apply client-specific and federal/state restrictions (FCRA knowledge is a plus)
  • Prepare thorough, high-quality investigative reports within strict deadlines
  • Maintain real-time updates in internal systems and flag delays or discrepancies
  • Communicate effectively with courts, clerks, and other government entities
  • Suggest and implement improvements in process, workflow, and team communication
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of all sensitive information
  • Conduct online and/or in-person searches of public court records across various jurisdictions
  • Accurately identify, interpret, and document criminal case information
  • Follow established KENTECH research protocols and FCRA-compliant procedures
  • Maintain daily productivity and quality targets
  • Flag any discrepancies, sealed records, or potential identity mismatches
  • Communicate with team leads when clarification or escalations are needed
  • Log research activity and maintain chain-of-custody documentation in case management system
  • Stay current on jurisdiction-specific access requirements and legal updates
Qualifications
  • Prior experience in criminal records research (2+ year preferred)
  • Strong understanding of U.S. court structures and legal terminology
  • Must be comfortable working independently and meeting strict deadlines
  • High-speed internet and secure home office setup
  • FCRA knowledge is required
  • Background in legal research, investigations, or data verification a plus
