About Hudbay:

Hudbay (TSX, NYSE: HBM) is a copper-focused mining company with three long-life operations and a world-class pipeline of copper growth projects in tier-one mining-friendly jurisdictions of Canada, Peru and the United States.

Hudbayโ€™s operating portfolio includes the Constancia mine in Cusco (Peru), the Snow Lake operations in Manitoba (Canada) and the Copper Mountain mine in British Columbia (Canada). Copper is the primary metal produced by the company, which is complemented by meaningful gold production. Hudbayโ€™s growth pipeline includes the Copper World project in Arizona, the Mason project in Nevada (United States), the Llaguen project in La Libertad (Peru) and several expansion and exploration opportunities near its existing operations.

The value Hudbay creates and the impact it has is embodied in its purpose statement: โ€œWe care about our people, our communities and our planet. Hudbay provides the metals the world needs. We work sustainably, transform lives and create better futures for communities.โ€ Hudbayโ€™s mission is to create sustainable value and strong returns by leveraging its core strengths in community relations, focused exploration, mine development and efficient operations.

Mission:

To create sustainable value and strong returns by leveraging our core strengths in community relations, focused exploration, mine development and efficient operations.

Purpose of role:

The Senior Reliability Engineer ensures that fixed plant equipment reliability enables stable throughput and optimal metallurgical recovery. The role is responsible for developing a world-class reliability system to minimize downtime and accelerate the ramp-up of the 60,000 tpd (expanding to 90,000 tpd) copper ore concentrator and refinery. Acting as the key interface between Maintenance, Operations, and Metallurgy, this role ensures equipment performance aligns with production targets and total business value.

This role will be located at the Copper World Project, approximately 45 minutes southwest of Tucson near Sahuarita, Arizona.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Safety, Health & Environment: Ensure reliability strategies support safe plant design and operation. Participate in equipment-related incident investigations and eliminate safety risks tied to failure modes.
  • Planning & Strategy: Implement an equipment criticality framework based on production impact. Establish reliability strategies for SAG/Ball mills, crushing, flotation, solid-liquid separation, and pipelines. Support business planning through cost optimization and lifecycle asset management.
  • Production (Asset Performance): Ensure equipment reliability drives throughput, metallurgical recovery, and process stability. Prioritize production value over simple uptime when measuring performance. Lead RCA and FMEA processes to drive defect elimination and quantify production losses.
  • Predictive Maintenance & Technical Integration: Develop predictive strategies using condition monitoring and equipment health data. Partner with the Advanced Analytics/AI team, Process Control, and the Chief Metallurgist to optimize control strategies and metallurgical outcomes.
  • Operational Readiness & Ramp-Up: Define equipment readiness strategies and identify startup risks to support the ramp-up to design capacity. Support the Operational Readiness Lead throughout final design, construction, and commissioning.
  • Performance Metrics (Critical): Track Availability, MTBF, and MTTR. Report critical impacts on throughput (tpd), recovery (%), production (lbs Cu), and financial value ($).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:

  • Education: University degree in Mechanical, Reliability, Industrial, or an equivalent Engineering discipline.
  • Experience: A minimum of 6+ years of experience in Mining, mineral, or industrial operations, specifically within Reliability and Maintenance Engineering.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) tools, asset lifecycle management, and fixed plant equipment such as mills, crushers, flotation circuits, and pumps.
  • Systematic Thinking: Proven ability to systematically evaluate the interaction between equipment performance, process stability, and business value.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate technical issues into financial impact.
  • Communication: Demonstrated cross-functional communication and leadership skills to influence collaboration across departments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience at a mine site is preferred.
  • Deep proficiency in Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) tools and asset lifecycle management, with a proven ability to integrate equipment performance with Process Control and Advanced Analytics to optimize metallurgical outcomes and business value.
