The Senior Broadcast Reliability Engineer designs, develops, and evolves the intelligent monitoring, automation, and observability platforms that power one of the nation's premier broadcasters. This role is responsible for building highly reliable systems that ensure FOX content is delivered seamlessly across linear broadcast, Video on Demand (VOD), streaming, and emerging media platforms. Working at the intersection of software engineering, cloud infrastructure, and broadcast technology, you'll help shape the future of media operations by leveraging AI-driven observability and advanced automation to improve operational efficiency, accelerate incident response, and enable predictive system reliability. As FOX continues to explore next-generation technologies, including the Media Exchange Layer (MXL) and AI-native operational workflows, you'll have the opportunity to architect solutions that redefine how broadcast systems are monitored, controlled, and optimized at scale.

This position supports a 24/7 broadcast operation. While the role is primarily scheduled during daytime hours, flexibility to provide evening or overnight coverage for live events and critical operational activities is expected as needed.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and supporting large-scale broadcast, media, or mission-critical technology environments with a focus on reliability, observability, and automation
  • Working knowledge of IP-based broadcast infrastructure (e.g. SMPTE ST 2110, AMWA NMOS, multicast networking, and Precision Time Protocol (PTP))
  • Expert-level experience designing and developing software solutions for broadcast monitoring and control platforms, including protocol development, workflow automation, dashboards, and systems integration using C#, .NET, Python, and modern API technologies (REST, gRPC, SNMP, SOAP, TCP/UDP).
  • Design, architect, and evolve enterprise monitoring, observability, and automation platforms supporting linear broadcast, streaming, cloud, and media production workflows
  • Lead the implementation and optimization of intelligent monitoring solutions that leverage AI/ML techniques for anomaly detection, predictive analytics, event correlation, and operational automation
  • Drive software engineering best practices including source control, CI/CD, automated testing, and code reviews
  • Experience leveraging generative AI and large language models (LLMs) to accelerate software development, operational automation, troubleshooting, knowledge management, and engineering workflows
  • Serve as the senior technical escalation point for complex cross-domain issues impacting live broadcast operations and major live events
  • Architect resilient, highly available broadcast systems with a focus on redundancy, scalability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery
  • Develop automation and orchestration solutions that reduce operational overhead and improve system reliability across hybrid on-premises and cloud environments
  • Lead technical evaluations, proof-of-concept initiatives, and adoption of emerging technologies in monitoring, observability, automation, and AI-assisted operations
  • Mentor engineers and establish technical standards, documentation, and operational best practices across the Broadcast Reliability organization
  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, Product, and Production teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Drive continuous improvement through incident management, root cause analysis, reliability engineering practices, and post-incident reviews
  • Participate in on-call rotations and provide technical leadership during high-profile live productions and major broadcast events

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field
  • Experience with the Skyline DataMiner platform, including connector development, automation, dashboards, low-code applications, and system integrations
  • Experience designing and operating observability platforms using metrics, logs, traces, telemetry, and event correlation across distributed systems
  • Experience supporting advanced broadcast workflows including UHD/4K, HDR, IP media transport, and distributed media processing
  • Strong experience with hybrid cloud architectures and media workflows leveraging AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with containerized and orchestrated environments including Docker, Kubernetes, and modern DevOps practices
  • Experience designing highly available, fault-tolerant systems with automated recovery, redundancy, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Experience developing or integrating AI/ML-enabled operational intelligence solutions, including anomaly detection, predictive monitoring, intelligent alerting, root cause analysis, and automated remediation
  • Strong proficiency in Python, C#, .NET, RESTful APIs, JSON, XML, SQL, and Git-based software development workflows
  • Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to correlate telemetry across infrastructure, applications, networking, and broadcast systems to rapidly identify and resolve complex production issue

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $114,000.00-120,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
