Senior Project Manager - Data Centers
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of large-scale data center construction programs. This role is responsible for managing mission-critical, hyperscale and core & shell data center projects from pre-construction through commissioning and handover. The ideal candidate combines deep data center and construction expertise with proven program and stakeholder management skills, a focus on safety and quality, and familiarity with AWS build standards and hyperscale deployments.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of data center projects, including pre-construction, construction, commissioning and turnover for mission-critical and hyperscale facilities.
  • Manage core & shell, tilt up, warehouse logistics and site infrastructure activities while coordinating specialty contractors, MEP teams and commissioning agents.
  • Own project schedule, budget and cost control for multimillion dollar programs; proactively identify and mitigate risks to schedule, budget and operational objectives.
  • Oversee commissioning and startup activities to ensure systems meet availability, resiliency and performance requirements.
  • Serve as primary on-site construction Project Manager and client liaison for AWS and other hyperscale customers; ensure adherence to client standards, documentation and design intent.
  • Implement construction management processes, safety protocols, quality control plans and site inspections to deliver projects to specification and code compliance.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts, subcontracts and purchase orders; coordinate procurement, warehouse staging and materials management for efficient site operations.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including design, procurement, construction, commissioning, facilities and operations to ensure smooth project transitions.
  • Prepare and present regular status reports, dashboards and executive updates; maintain accurate project documentation and close-out packages.
  • Mentor and develop junior project managers, site superintendents and construction staff to build project delivery capability and consistency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8-12 years of progressive data center or mission critical construction project management experience, including hyperscale and core & shell builds.
  • Proven experience with tiltup construction methods, warehouse logistics/staging and large footprint site builds.
  • Demonstrated track record managing commissioning and startup of data center systems (electrical, UPS, generators, HVAC, BMS) to meet mission critical requirements.
  • Hands on experience working with AWS or hyperscale cloud providers on facility requirements, standards and handover processes.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing multimillion dollar budgets, cost forecasting and change management.
  • Relevant certifications such as PMP, CCM or Certified Commissioning Professional (CxA) are highly desirable; PE is a plus.
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and remote teams.
  • Proficiency with construction management tools (MS Project, Primavera, Procore, BIM/AutoCAD) and standard project controls processes.
  • Willingness to travel frequently and be on-site during critical construction and commissioning phases.
