Job Description

Position Summaryย 

The Senior EPC Project Controller reports directly to the Project Leadership team, serving as a pivotal leader in the delivery of project controls for complex Engineering only and EPCM projects. This position provides essential subject matterย expertiseย and strategic advisory, guiding all aspects of project control, including cost, schedule, and performance management, to ensure robust governance, forecast credibility, and compliance with contractual and client requirements. As a key member of the team, the Senior EPC Project Controller champions data-driven decision-making, proactivelyย identifiesย risks and opportunities, and implements best practices in earned value management and change control. By collaborating closely with estimating, scheduling, engineering, procurement, and construction functions, the role drives alignment and consistency across project controls, contributing to the successful execution and delivery of projects throughout their lifecycle.ย 

Key Responsibilitiesย 

  • Establish,ย validate, andย maintainย integrated cost, schedule, and earned value baselines aligned with contractual and client requirements.ย 

  • Develop andย operateย Earned Value Management processes, including SPI/CPI analysis, forecasting, and variance reporting.ย 

  • Provide independentย challengeย of forecasts, trends, and productivity assumptions to ensure reliable Estimate-at-Completion (EAC) reporting.ย 

  • Analyze cost and schedule performance,ย identifyย risks and opportunities, and recommend corrective actions.ย 

  • Integrate procurement commitments, cash flow forecasts, and accruals into project financial controls and reporting.ย 

  • Coordinate with estimating, scheduling, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure alignment across project controls.ย 

  • Establish and oversee physical progress measurement methodologies in coordination with construction and field teams.ย 

  • Manage project change control, including quantification of cost and schedule impacts for internal and client reporting.ย 

  • Support contract administration activities, including change management, risk events, and claims avoidance or substantiation.ย 

  • Develop dashboards, progress reports, and KPI scorecards for leadership and client stakeholders.ย 

  • Ensure compliance with Ramboll's project governance standards, financial controls, and client requirements.ย 

  • Serve as a project controls subject matter expert, mentoringย projectย staff and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.ย 

What Success Looks Like in 12-18 Monthsย 

  • Project leadership has confidence in cost and schedule forecasts, with transparent and reliable EAC reporting supporting decision-making.ย 

  • Integrated cost, schedule, procurement, andย constructionย progress baselines are fullyย establishedย and consistentlyย maintained.ย 

  • Earned value and performance reporting processes areย operatingย smoothly with actionable variance and trend analysis.ย 

  • Procurement commitments, cash flow forecasts, and accruals are accurately reflected and aligned with contract requirements.ย 

  • Change and risk impacts are quantified promptly and support effective contract administration and client reporting.ย 

  • Construction progress measurement methodologies areย validatedย and trusted by project teams and leadership.ย 

  • The Project Controller is recognized as a trusted advisor to the Project Manager and client.ย 

  • Projectย controlsย systems, data quality, and standards show measurable improvement through continuous improvement and mentoring.ย 

Qualifications

Qualificationsย 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Accounting, or related field.ย 

  • 7+ย years of experience in project controls, cost engineering, or financial analysis within EPC or EPCM environments.ย 

  • Demonstrated experienceย operatingย as a senior project controls advisor within integrated project teams.ย 

  • Strong understanding of earned value management, cost control, scheduling, and change management.ย 

  • Proficiencyย with Primavera P6, MS Project, and enterprise financial systems.ย 

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.ย 

  • Preferred certifications: PMP, AACE (EVP/CEP/CCE), or CPA.ย

Salary Transparency

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across severalU.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this positionis $97,000 - $122,000 annually and does not include bonuses, overtime or other forms of compensation or benefits. Paywithin this range varies by work locationand may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills,and experience.
