ย  ย Work with Commercial, Project Development, and Project teams to develop and compare early-stage design options, applying practical assumptions and fit-for-purpose analysis as requirements evolve.
ย  ย Develop, maintain, benchmark, and validate hydraulic models using operational SCADA data and considering operating practices, volume requirements, fluid properties, and temperature effects.
ย  ย Perform transient and surge assessments and develop overpressure protection strategies, including surge relief, high-pressure shutdowns, valve closure times, and control system logic.
ย  ย Develop and maintain pressure restrictions and pump station shutdown setpoints, including their technical basis and supporting documentation, in coordination with Pipeline Integrity, Operations Engineering, the Control Centre, and Field Operations.
ย  ย Troubleshoot hydraulic performance and control issues affecting pump stations, terminals, and pipeline operations.
ย  ย Provide technical expertise related to Drag Reducing Agents, including hydraulic performance, injection requirements, control considerations, and impacts on pipeline capacity.
ย  ย Review hydraulic work completed by internal team members and consultants, and authenticate engineering work within the individual's area of competency.
ย  ย Mentor developing engineers and contribute to improvements in hydraulic models, tools, standards, workflows, and documentation practices.

Education, Skills and Experience

ย  ย Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering.
ย  ย Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered, or eligible for registration, with APEGA.
ย  ย Minimum 8 years of relevant pipeline engineering experience, including significant experience in hydrocarbon liquid pipeline hydraulics.
ย  ย Experience supporting pipeline and facility project development, including pipeline sizing, system curve development, preliminary pump selection, and evaluation of early-stage design options with Commercial and Project teams.
ย  ย Strong hydraulic fundamentals and competency with a range of analysis methods, including simulation software, simplified calculations, and pump and system curve analysis.
ย  ย Experience with SPS (Synergi Pipeline Simulator) is a strong asset. Experience with AFT Fathom/Impulse, PIPESIM, or equivalent hydraulic simulation tools is also considered an asset.
