Job purpose


Theย Sr. Production Operatorย is responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and compliant operation of production equipment in the processing area. This role involves overseeing critical production processes, mentoring junior operators, and maintaining strict adherence to quality, safety, and regulatory standards. The Senior Process Operator will serve as a key point of contact for troubleshooting, process improvements, and communication between shifts and departments.

Duties and responsibilities

1. Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to all safety regulations, including wearing requiredย PPEย and following lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Identify, report, and mitigate safety hazards or non-compliance issues in the process area.
  • Promote a culture of safety by modeling best practices and coaching junior team members.

2. Quality Control

Monitor and validate critical process parameters (e.g., moisture, oil absorption, temperature, FFAs, dough consistency) to ensure products meet quality standards.

Perform regular checks and document results for key metrics:

  • Water temperature
  • Mixing time
  • Dough moisture
  • Moisture after oven/stabilizer
  • Oil absorption (fried product)
  • Takis texture

Collaborate with Quality Assurance to address non-conformances and implement corrective actions.

ย ย ย ย ย ย  Ensure compliance withย GMP, HACCP, and FDA regulations.

3. Equipment Operation & Maintenance

  • Operate and monitor processing equipment (e.g., mixers, ovens, fryers) perย SOPs.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and adjustments to minimize downtime.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to maintenance and supervisors promptly.
  • Train and mentor junior operators on machinery operation, safety protocols, and troubleshooting.

4. Process Improvement & Documentation

  • Record production data, equipment settings, and deviations accurately.
  • Supportย 5S initiativesย to maintain clean, organized, and efficient work areas.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and contribute to continuous improvement projects.
  • Participate in production communication loops (e.g., emails, Teams channels, shift handovers).
  • 5. Leadership & Collaboration
  • Guide junior operators in daily tasks and complex operations.
  • Collaborate with production supervisors, QA, and maintenance to resolve issues and meet targets.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert for the process area.

Qualifications

  • Experience:ย 3+ years in food manufacturing or processing (preferably in snack production).
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in operating processing equipment (e.g., ovens, fryers, mixers).
    • Understanding of quality parameters (e.g., moisture, oil absorption, texture).
    • Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
    • Leadership and training capabilities.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to stand, lift (up to 50 lbs), and work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Comfortable with exposure to heat, noise, and food allergens.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
