Job description

Senior Product Compliance Engineer

The Senior Product Compliance Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all products within the Drinking Water and Sinks business units meet applicable regulatory, safety, and performance standards. The role partners with engineering, product management, quality, and manufacturing teams to secure complex product certifications, manage compliance documentation, and maintain ongoing adherence to national and international standards and regulations. The Senior Product Compliance Engineer also serves as the key liaison between Zurn Elkay Water Solutions and external certification bodies.

Reports to: Product Compliance Manager.

Key Focus Areas
  • Regulatory & Certification Management: Lead and coordinate product certification efforts for agencies such as UL, FCC, and IAPMO R&T. Develop, maintain, and continuously improve product compliance documentation, processes, technical files, and declarations of conformity. Ensure compliance with electrical, EMC, plumbing, and material safety standards for all Drinking Water and Sinks product lines. Monitor changes in regulatory standards and proactively communicate potential product impacts to internal stakeholders. Engage with trade associations in the development of industry standards.
  • New Product Development Support: Partner with design and product engineers early in the development process to ensure designs meet multifaceted compliance and certification requirements. Coordinate with thirdโ€‘party testing laboratories to complete product evaluations and secure timely certifications. Support prototype and production validation testing to confirm regulatory and performance compliance.
  • Sustainability & Material Compliance: Manage compliance with environmental and material content regulations. Support sustainability initiatives related to water efficiency, recycled content, and environmental stewardship.
  • Audit & Continuous Improvement: Support internal and external audits from certification agencies and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Maintain accurate, accessible compliance records and certifications databases. Recommend and implement process improvements to streamline certification and compliance management activities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the technical compliance expert supporting engineering, operations, sourcing, and product management teams. Educate internal stakeholders on applicable standards, regulations, and codes. Provide compliance guidance for supplier materials and component selection. Partner with quality and regulatory teams to address any field or customer compliance issues.

Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in engineering, science, technology, or related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in product compliance or engineering, preferably in plumbing or appliance industries.
  • Working knowledge of UL, CSA, ASME, FCC, and/or NSF standards related to plumbing and electrical products.
  • Experience coordinating thirdโ€‘party product testing and certification processes.
Salary & Benefits

Salary Range: $94,000 - $130,000 (actual may vary based on skillset, experience, and other factors).
