Role: Senior Cloud Engineer HBITS-08-14920
DURATION: 30 Months
LOCATION: New York, NY - Hybrid
The Senior Platform Engineer is a technical contributor on the newly established DFS Platform Services team. This role owns significant portions of the platform build including CI/CD pipelines, GCP infrastructure, GKE cluster operations, and the observability stack. The Senior Platform Engineer works within standards set by the Lead Platform Engineer and provides day-to-day technical guidance and mentorship to mid-level engineers on the team.
Qualifications
  • Cloud Engineer- Applies engineering disciplines to cloud computing and brings a systematic approach to concerns of commercialization, standardization, and governance of cloud computing applications. Leverages the methods and tools of engineering in conceiving, developing, operating and maintaining cloud computing systems and solutions. Uses the economics of cloud resources to solve business problems.
  • Senior- 60 - 84 months: Candidate is able to work independently, without assistance and provides guidance to others. May have an advanced education. 84 months of experience with coding client-server relational database applications using PowerBuilder.
  • 84 months of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure, including designing and operating CI/CD pipelines in production
  • 60 months of experience with GCP, including Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Build, Artifact Registry, Secret Manager, VPC networking, and IAM
  • 60 months of experience with Terraform, including module development, remote state management, and infrastructure migration
  • 60 months of experience with GitHub and Git workflows, including branching strategies, pull requests, and webhook integrations
  • 48 months of experience with static and dynamic code analysis, including SonarQube (SAST) and OWASP ZAP or equivalent (DAST) within CI/CD pipelines

Day-to-Day tasks
  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, or equivalent
  • Author, review, and maintain Terraform code for GCP infrastructure provisioning
  • Support GKE cluster build-out, workload onboarding, and cluster operations
  • Own assigned areas of the observability stack including Splunk integration, monitoring, and alerting
  • Manage build artifact storage and versioning using GCP Artifact Registry
  • Maintain and improve existing Salesforce/GearSet deployment pipelines
  • Maintain SonarQube and GitHub integration for static and dynamic code analysis
  • Manage GCP resources including compute, networking, IAM, and secrets management
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and sprint delivery
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to mid-level Platform Engineers
  • Contribute to team documentation and participate in on-call rotation
