Responsibilities
About The Role
The Defense Mission and Health Solutions team, Benefits, Claims & Integrity Solutions Operating Unit seeks a Policy Director to support our Health and Human Services (HHS) and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) customer delivery and be part of the leadership for CMS Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight (CCIIO) initiatives. As a trusted advisor to senior leadership, the Policy Director ensures organizational policies align with federal requirements, industry standards, and Peraton's operational objectives. This role plays a central part in driving enterprise-wide policy advancement, risk mitigation, and decision-making support.
What you'll do:
  • Lead the development, review, and implementation of enterprise and program-level policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
  • Serve as a senior advisor to executives, program managers, and mission partners on policy interpretation, compliance requirements, and operational impacts.
  • Coordinate cross-functional policy consultations with Legal, Contracts, Security, HR, Engineering and Program Management stakeholders.
  • Conduct policy gap analyses and endure alignment with federal regulations, agency directives, and contractual obligations.
  • Maintains up to date expertise on ACA requirements and their impact on Eligibility Program policies.
  • Drive continuous improvement by establish policy lifecycle management processes, documentation standards, and review cycles.
  • Monitor changes in the regulatory environment and provide recommendations to proactively address emerging risks.
  • Support audits, assessments, and readiness activities by ensuring policy compliance and documentation accuracy.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement across diverse mission areas, ensuring policies are practical, mission-supportive and risk-aware.
  • Represent Peraton at customer meetings, working groups, and policy-driven forums when required.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Political Science, Business, Government, or related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in policy development, governance, compliance, or strategic planning within federal, defense, or regulated sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and manage complex policy frameworks across large organizations.
  • Strong understanding of federal regulations, agency directives, and oversight structures relevant to Peraton's mission areas.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and senior-level briefing skills.
  • Ability to manage cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • US Citizen and the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active public trust clearance
  • Experience supporting federal agencies, defense programs, or national security missions.
  • Familiarity with risk management, governance frameworks, and policy compliance methodologies.
  • Experience working within a government contractor environment.
  • Demonstrated success driving enterprise transformation or policy modernization initiatives.
  • ACA or healthcare/insurance specific policy expertise.

Target Salary Range
$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
