Job description

Position Overview

The PeopleSoft Senior Programmer at KU Information Technology will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining PeopleSoft applications and systems to support the university's administrative and academic operations. This position has latitude for independent decisions while collaborating in a team environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with PeopleSoft technologies, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Job Description
40% - Application Development & Support

  • Design, develop, and customize PeopleSoft applications, including modules for Human Resources, Student Administration, and others as required.

  • Develop and maintain integrations between PeopleSoft and other university systems, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability.

  • Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for PeopleSoft applications, including performance tuning and optimization.


30% - System Maintenance and Security

  • Perform regular system maintenance, including applying patches, upgrades, and fixes to ensure stability and security of PeopleSoft systems.

  • Ensure compliance with university policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements through regular audits and reviews of system configurations and operations.

  • Manage and maintain backup and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and availability in case of system failures or data loss.

  • Implement and monitor system alerts and performance metrics to proactively identify and address potential issues.

  • Implement security protocols and monitor system vulnerabilities to protect against potential threats and unauthorized access.


25% - Project Management and Documentation

  • Participate in project planning and management activities, including defining project scope, timelines, and deliverables, and ensuring successful project execution.

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, user guides, and system documentation.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze business requirements, translating them into technical specifications and solutions.

  • Participate in IT service management including incident and problem resolution.


5% - Other Duties as assigned
Required Qualifications

  1. High School Diploma/GED and seven years of relevant PeopleSoft experience OR an Associate's degree and five years of relevant PeopleSoft experience OR a Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant PeopleSoft experience.

  2. Three years' experience in PeopleTools, including Application Designer, PeopleCode, Application Engine, Component Interface, and Integration Broker, and web services as shown in application materials.

  3. Three years of relevant PeopleSoft Campus Solutions experience using SQL, PL/SQL, SQR, XML, Java, and other programming languages relevant to PeopleSoft development using PeopleTools 8.60 or higher as shown in application materials.

  4. Excellent written communication skills as evidenced by application materials.
