Payroll Accountant (Temp-to-Perm Potential)

Pay:ย $30.00/hour can convert to 80-85k when FT

Location: Downtown LA (Fashion District)

Schedule:ย Mondayโ€“Friday | 7:30 AMโ€“4:00 PM | Onsite

Duration:ย 3 months (ASAP start) โ€“ possible temp-to-perm

About the Role:

Our client, a MAJOR brand in fashion, blends payroll processing, accounting, taxation, compliance, and reporting. The Payroll Accountant will manage GL reconciliations, payroll journal entries, tax filings, and benefit-related accounting while ensuring SOX compliance and strong internal controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare payroll journal entries and perform general ledger reconciliations
  • Maintain payroll accounting records, 401(k), FSA, and commuter reconciliations
  • Manage employer tax reporting (including MBT and workersโ€™ comp reporting)
  • Support payroll tax reconciliations and agency audits
  • Assist with SOX compliance and internal payroll audits
  • Provide reporting for management, government agencies, and year-end audits
  • Serve as backup for payroll processing during peak periods

What Weโ€™re Looking For:

  • Lead biweekly, multi-state payroll processing (salaried & hourly employees)
  • Review payroll data including earnings, deductions, bonuses, and retro pay
