The role requires a strong understanding of multiple packaging materials, configurations, and processing technologies. The Senior Packaging Engineer must also partner with vendors and cross-functional business teams, including Marketing, Consumer Insights, and Supply Chain to evaluate new opportunities and deliver optimized packaging solutions to the market. This position will be heavily focused on driving packaging optimization for hot-fill beverages, focusing on cost savings, sustainability initiatives, and innovation with broad impact across the full packaging platform.Who you will work with...You will work with the M&B commercialization partners.What you will do Identify, evaluate, and develop packaging components and systems to meet business, manufacturing, customer, and consumer needs.Collaborate with cross functional partners and Commercialization teams to drive projects forward by researching and developing packaging solutions to meet consumer and customer needs.Leverage internal and external networks to optimize current packaging formats, driving cost efficiency while meeting product requirements and consumer expectationsDrive project and program success through clear correspondence and presentation of complex matters that is understandable by all stakeholders.Identifies and drives cost savings opportunities, looking both at individual component level as well as process improvements and manufacturing efficiency gains.Coordinate, define success criteria, and lead execution of packaging trials, distribution tests, etc. to validate new packaging materials and structural designs.Provide support to manufacturing during the implementation of commercialization activities and packaging changes.Write technical specifications for packaging components and final package.Review technical drawings for packaging components and participate in the packaging artwork approval process.Leads, manages, and executes multiple simultaneous packaging projects with minimal supervision.Creates and leverages cross-functional partnerships to identify, evaluate, develop, and deliver packaging solutions.Supports the Packaging R&D Leadership Team in the implementation of key Packaging Development initiatives.Builds, maintains, and leverages external network of material and equipment vendors and co-manufacturing partners.What you bring to the table Bachelor's Degree in materials science or Packaging related program.5+ years experience in Packaging R&D roles, including Co-op or Internship experience.Must be able to travel domestically and internationally approximately 25% of the time.It would be great to have Experience with liquid packaging, with a focus on hot-fill beverages across different packaging formatsStrong communication and written skills.Highly organized with great attention to detail and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities and unexpected requests.Experience with packaging development software desired (TOPS or CAPE), specification database management, and MS Office.Able to develop a development and implementation plan for moderate-high risk projects using sound technical methodologySelf-starter, with the ability to drive technical solutions forward and multi-task on key programs / projects.Ability to identify and conduct appropriate tests to simulate the distribution environment.Compensation and Benefits: The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between$117,900-$162,100Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.
