Job Description


The Mold Attendant at Becton, Dickinson and Company is responsible for the setup, operation, and basic maintenance of injection molding equipment to ensure the continuous and efficient production of high-quality components. This role plays a critical part in maintaining production schedules and product quality standards.
Job Responsibilities

  • Perform mold changes, including setup, alignment, and removal of injection molds according to production schedules and specifications.
  • Monitor and adjust molding machine parameters (e.g., temperature, pressure, cycle time) to optimize part quality and production efficiency.
  • Inspect molded parts for defects, ensuring adherence to quality standards and reporting any non-conformances.
  • Troubleshoot basic molding process issues and implement corrective actions under guidance from senior technicians or engineers.
  • Execute routine preventative maintenance tasks on molds and auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning, greasing, and minor repairs.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including mold change logs, process parameters, and scrap rates.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies, including proper use of PPE and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, quality control, and other production personnel regarding operational status and potential issues.
  • Keep work area clean, organized, and free of hazards.


Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in an injection molding environment, with a focus on mold setup and operation, preferred.
  • Basic understanding of injection molding principles and processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, such as blueprints, schematics, and operating instructions.
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
  • Familiarity with quality control tools and techniques is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
