Job description

Description:

Position Purpose: To support our customers and Texas Injection Molding by helping to troubleshoot, diagnose and make repairs to injection molds. Aid in the mold design and building of new injection molds, fixtures and other tooling related items.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on complex injection molding tools, ensuring optimal functionality and production uptime.
  • Identify and troubleshoot mold issues, promptly implementing solutions to minimize production disruptions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all mold maintenance and repair activities, including dates, procedures used, and materials consumed.
  • Train and mentor junior mold makers, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Must be organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy; working with tolerances of +/- .0005”
  • Operational knowledge of tool room equipment including, but not limited to manual mills, lathes, surface grinders, CNC and EDM machines.
  • Start-Finish of new tooling as well as repairs and modifications of existing tooling
  • Be efficient and skilled in operating manual tool room machinery such as surface grinders, mills, lathes, tool grinders.
  • Trouble shoot and repair hot runner systems
  • Collection of data and use of data analysis to make fact based decisions

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Education or GED

Experience:

  • Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a mold maker. (A machinist does not qualify as a mold maker)
  • Plastics/Molding experience
  • Experience in the tool and die industry, preferably with precise, high-quality, injection molds.
  • Experience with CNC machining and programming
  • Qualified as a Journeyman Mold Maker.
  • Have experience with fitting and benching of molds.


Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong math skills
  • Must be able to stand for long hours (8-10 hours daily)
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Shows good judgment
  • Proficient in the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and/or CAD files.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks effectively
  • Strong understanding of mold design principles, engineering tolerances, and material properties
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively with diverse teams
  • Excellent attendance is mandatory with ability to work up to 20 hours/week overtime
  • Be a self-starter, be motivated, and able to work in a team environment
  • A positive can-do attitude with willingness to learn
  • Have working knowledge of mold construction.
  • Must have your own tools.
