Position Summary
We are seeking a highly Manufacturing Engineering Manager to work out of our Milwaukee Service Center. Serve as a key leader within the organization that helps to drive change and cultural growth in support of improvements in Safety, Engagement, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager serves as the primary contact for supporting the preparation of customer quotations and subsequent contract execution by performing a technical review of customer requirements and developing the required manufacturing processes and supporting documentation, along with the development of bills of materials and estimated labor times/costs. This position requires working closely with other departments including Purchasing, Operations, Quality and Sales. This position may also requires routine interfacing with customers, vendors, and various levels of the organization.
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager also helps lead continuous improvement, implementation of lean philosophies, and engagement of all team members within the operations group. This is done through the development of staff capabilities and demonstrating personal capabilities to lead through a changing and dynamic environment. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for managing the facilities CAPEX budget and ensuring that mid-long term CAPEX planning supports organizational growth initiatives.
Essential Duties
  • Manages a team of engineers and technicians charged with optimization and upgrade of existing manufacturing equipment to achieve plants manufacturing goals. Participates in the purchase and install, start-up and validation of new equipment and/or processes as required to meet product specifications, requirements and manufacturing expectations.
  • Design modification and improvement of production machinery and equipment to improve safety, quality and cost. Troubleshoot and solve technical problems pertaining to production machinery, equipment and processes.
  • Provides assistance in all phases of Budget and Standards preparation (Labor, Spare Parts, etc.) and supports bid and no bid meetings.
  • Designs, recommends and implements cost reduction projects within the scope of annual plant targeted goals.
  • Maintains a 3 to 5 year vision for capital planning and a reaction strategy for addressing ongoing obsolescence management
  • Assesses resource skill requirements, labor loading, prioritization of work and time allocation for sustaining engineering activities and projects within a manufacturing department.

  • Drives or participates in robustness evaluation and process/equipment improvements for new manufacturing and technology processes.

Education and Required Experience
Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering is required. Advanced Technical (MS) or MBA is preferred.

  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years leadership experience.
  • Must have experience using Microsoft project or similar scheduling programs
  • Proficiency utilizing manufacturing systems preferable Oracle EBS system.
  • Capable of operating a PC system in a network environment.
  • Experience in process development and bill of material structure development preferred
  • Experience in a service environment or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience in the power generation industry preferred.

Skills:
  • Experience with factory automation equipment design, operation, and maintenance, preferably in a GMP regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, six sigma, and category management is desirable along with MRP and production order transaction maintenance experience using Oracle.
  • Proficient with MS Office- Outlook. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Projects
  • Excellent communication skills to be able to work with shop management and project managers in managing shop schedules.
  • Must have strong blueprint reading skills, math skill and problem solving abilities.
  • Must be a team leader capable of leading the team to a common goal/objective.

Preferred
  • Experience using the Oracle P6 project management software or comparable software
  • Experience in process development and bill of material structure development
  • Experience in a service environment
  • Experience in the power generation industry

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places, and risk of shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat, extreme cold and wet, humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.
