Senior Mainframe Developer

Location: San Mateo, CA

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect and deliver mission-critical financial processing platforms, using Enterprise COBOL, JCL, CICS/IMS, and advanced DB2 engineering.
  • Own highly complex mainframe components end-to-end, applying enterprise architecture, regulated financial systems expertise, and production ownership.
  • Design and optimize ultra-high-volume batch and real-time systems, using advanced batch frameworks, scheduler integration, DB2 performance tuning, and parallel processing.
  • Build shared services, data interfaces, and reusable frameworks that enable downstream development teams, leveraging large-scale financial data engineering and reconciliation platforms.
  • Lead hybrid integration and service enablement initiatives, using MQ, Kafka, REST APIs, z/OS Connect EE, and event-driven architectures.
  • Drive modernization and DevOps enablement, applying CI/CD pipelines, automated regression testing, Git/Jenkins, and deployment automation for z/OS.
  • Engineer high-availability and resiliency solutions, using Parallel Sysplex concepts, multi-LPAR design, and disaster recovery engineering.
  • Act as a technical authority for critical system issues, performing deep root-cause analysis, performance optimization, and long-term remediation.
  • Design secure, audit-grade financial systems, leveraging RACF/ACF2, encryption, regulatory controls, data lineage, and historical replay frameworks.
  • Deliver specialized financial platform capabilities, applying rare expertise such as investment accounting system internals, asset servicing workflows, and large-scale reconciliation engines.
