Who we're looking for

Toyota is looking for team members who are passionate about technology and interested in joining a collaborative and highly motivated team as aMainframe DB2 and IMS Senior Engineer.

The primary responsibility of this role is to Manage, configure and engineer mainframe databases, performance and availability.

Reporting to the OneTech - Mainframe Manager, the person in this role will join the End User Experience & On Prem Infrastructure team to empower users with seamless technology and robust on-prem infrastructure for enhanced productivity and collaboration.

This position is based in Plano, TX or York, MI. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within a commutable distance of this location.

What you'll be doing

  • Installation & Upgrades: Installing new DB2 and IMS versions and applying maintenance.

  • Configuring DB2 and IMS subsystem parameters to optimize performance.

  • Utilizing DB2 and IMS tools to monitor database health and application objects.

  • Implementing DB2 and IMS security controls and collaborating with DBAs to manage application access.

  • Performing SOX audits on database objects to ensure compliance standards.

  • Coordinating with application and system teams to implement database enhancements.

  • Leading service restoration for issues related to DB2, IMS, and associated software products.

  • Driving continuous improvement in operational resilience, disaster recovery, and business continuity with measurable KPIs.

  • Automating tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.

  • Maintaining baseline operations for DB2 and IMS test and production systems, proactively identifying and resolving issues.

  • Participating in disaster recovery exercises to support enterprise system recovery and business continuity.

What you bring

  • Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience in mainframe database systems programming support.

  • Experience in Database installation, maintenance, and subsystem environment setup.

  • Strong knowledge of Database internals and SMP/E product installations.

  • Experience with IBM Database tools or Omegamon.

  • Experience with reviewing new DB2 and IMS versions for functionality enhancements.

  • Experience in handling and recovering of Database Objects.

  • Knowledge of Database Log analysis and SMF reporting to identify Database issues.

  • Knowledge of mainframe functionalities, including z/OS, MQ, CICS, RACF, and JCLs.

Added bonus if you have

  • Hands-on experience with DB2 V13 and IMS V15.5 upgrades or maintenance.

  • Proficiency in REXX for automation.

  • Proficiency in IMS databases or Database Administration activities.

  • Additional certifications, such as DB2 for z/OS Mastery Certificate.
