Are you driven to strengthen the infrastructure that keeps communities connected? Do you bring the technical expertise and curiosity needed to solve complex structural challenges and extend the life of critical bridge assets?

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to join our Bridge Team in Columbia, SC, where youโ€™ll play a key role in designing, evaluating, and delivering innovative structural solutions. From rehabilitation to new structures, youโ€™ll contribute to projects that enhance safety, improve mobility, and support the long-term resilience of our nationโ€™s bridge networkโ€”while mentoring engineers and shaping high-quality technical delivery.


  • Provide advanced judgement and analysis techniques to complete complex engineering designs, technical reports, specifications, and contract documents for bridge projects
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of projects with other engineering disciplines and project management staff
  • Monitor project progress and performance to ensure efficient production and minimize issues in vital infrastructure
  • Complete projects within budget and scheduling constraints, supporting sustainable and cost-effective solutions
  • Provide guidance and technical review for junior engineering staff

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Civil Engineering required
  • Minimum of 4 years of discipline-specific engineering experience required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Advanced proficiency with bridge design and modeling software (LEAP Bridge, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.), as well as Microsoft Office required
  • Specific experience with prestressed girder design, bridge replacement, culvert design, and load ratings as well as the ability to sign and seal design documents
  • Strong knowledge of QA/QC procedures, business practices, and engineering laws
  • Ability to lead a team and work effectively in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Contribute to meaningful bridge projectsโ€”from inspections and rehabilitation to complex structural designโ€”that improve safety and extend the life of critical infrastructure
  • Work alongside bridge specialists delivering practical, cost-effective solutions grounded in deep technical expertise and real-world application
