Position Overview

The Senior Facility Manager in Asset Management leads a team of facilities managers responsible for delivering capital improvements and repair / maintenance to a diverse portfolio of self-storage and commercial real estate.  This role develops team performance and drives business initiatives with responsibility for budgets, schedules, quality and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of facility managers, driving consistent execution of site assessments, budgeting, and other project management practices.
  • Oversee development and consistency of Scopes of Work, RFPs, bid evaluations, and vendor selection, ensuring alignment with company standards and financial objectives.
  • Provide oversight of vendor performance and project quality, ensuring teams enforce contracts, validate deliverables, and approve accurate invoicing.
  • Manage a large portfolio of multi-site properties across numerous markets, ensuring effective prioritization, resource allocation, and risk management.
  • Direct the execution of emergency response for disaster recovery from fire, flood, and other causes, ensuring effective and efficient return to service while minimizing customer impact.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., operations, finance, legal) to align project delivery with broader organizational goals.
  • Oversee coordination with Architects, Engineers, Consultants, and Government Agencies, ensuring timely approvals, permitting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Implement and maintain project standards, specifications, and process improvements to drive consistency, efficiency, and cost optimization.
  • Manage and report on project financial performance, including budgets, forecasts, and key performance indicators.
  • Contribute to team development and succession planning, supporting leadership growth and performance management.
Qualifications
  • 3 years in leadership position with direct reports and 10 years’ experience in facilities management or construction project management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in real estate, facilities management, construction management, property management, or related field (preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams in high volume diverse capital improvement environments.
  • Strong background in capital project delivery, vendor management, and multi-site portfolio management.
  • Experience managing high project volumes and complex, multi-trade environments.
  • Proven ability to collaborate within internal cross-functional environment and deliver world class customer service.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and CMMS systems.
