Job description

Senior Engineering Manager

We're looking for a highly technical Senior Engineering Manager to lead the development of our new product offerings, as well as the integration of AI capabilities into our cloud-based web and mobile apps. This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical background who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves and coding alongside the team when necessary. You will be required to manage a front-end app engineering team with competence in React JS technologies. You are expected to handle people management responsibilities, partner with the technical architects on solutioning, and collaborate closely with stakeholders on project management. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone looking for an engineering management role that has a transformative effect on customers!

Responsibilities:

  • Directly manage the development and delivery on web and mobile, as well as AI capabilities in cloud-based apps including partnering with Product Management, Product Design, and Quality to ensure the apps meet functional and visual requirements.
  • Ensure the apps are of high quality and meet the non-functional requirements for performance, scalability, and security.
  • Own the project management of the apps and technical direction for the product, ensuring it aligns with the overall architecture and design of the web and mobile application platform.
  • Ensure the engineers collaborate closely with their counterparts from the cloud services team for seamless integration of the apps with microservices.
  • Jointly own the engineering platform roadmap (alongside leadership team) to steer important technology decisions related to application architecture and design.
  • Mentor and manage a team of web and mobile engineers. Be hands-on with coding when needed.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in the software industry, with 2+ years in engineering management
  • Proven experience as a technical leader with the ability to contribute to codebases when needed.
  • Solid capabilities in engineering project management, particularly planning and execution.
  • Strong technical proficiency in React Native/Redux web and mobile development technologies.
  • Experience in the B2C space and developing customer-facing apps.
  • Strong experience partnering with Product Management and Product Design teams to convert functional requirements to technical deliverables.
  • Excellent people management skills and ability to lead and mentor teams.
  • BS/MS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent.
