Software Development Engineering - Advisor I
About your role:
At Fiserv, we are dedicated to transforming financial services technology to benefit our clients. As a Software Development Engineering - Sr Professional I, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software applications. You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that align with our business goals and client needs.
What you'll do:
• Lead the design, development, and implementation of software applications to support Fiserv's business goals.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Perform coding, testing, and debugging of applications to ensure optimal performance.
• Maintain and improve existing codebases and lead peer review processes.
• Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance to enhance team capabilities.
• Responsibilities listed are not intended to be all-inclusive and may be modified as necessary.

Experience you'll need to have
  • 6-8 years of current experience as a member of engineering teams in delivering resilient and high-volume technology solutions built in Java/J2EE.
  • Recent experience working with teams delivering with Java/Spring Frameworks, Spring Boot, Spring Batch
  • Minimum 5 years hands-on software development experience building RESTful API's including JSON over HTTPS.
  • 5+ years hands-on software development experience designing, writing, debugging, and testing object-oriented code.
  • Experience with Messaging Architectures (Kafka).
  • Experience with various relational database preferably Oracle.
  • Experience with Cloud native environment Azure and On-Prem Open shift cloud Containers Platform.
  • Experience with Python, Shell scripts.
  • Experienced in the day-to-day practicalities of Agile/Scrum software delivery methodologies

Experience that would be great to have
  • 1+ year proficiency working with modern CI/CD and DevSecOps practices.
  • Experience in fintech or financial applications and payment processing systems and encryption protocols
  • Understanding of pattern languages & software algorithms.
  • Advanced knowledge of coding techniques contributing to the reliability, maintainability, readability, simplicity, performance, and testability of software.

How you'll work
  • This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.

Travel
  • Approximately 10% travel off-site or to other office locations is expected.
