Job description

SUMMARY: Develop new products and materials that support current product lines or helps establish new product lines. Perform performance characteristic testing of new and existing products. Provide technical assistance to customers and the organization. Responsible for producing new part design samples in a timely and efficient manner. Leads Engineering projects and is responsible for the assignment of duties.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Select materials to meet mechanical, environmental requirements while being the most cost-effective solution.
• Ensure designs implement advanced technologies while meeting manufacturing, cost, and timing goals.
• Work directly with customers, sales managers, project managers, and internal teams to identify customer requirements, establish design expectations, and meet agreed upon design, performance, and goals for projects.
• Develop and maintain project timelines to ensure all key deliverables are met.
• Coordinate all activities to accomplish prototype and pilot production runs to mature the design of components and assemblies, and testing and meet customer needs for finished material.
• Coordinate all project activities to ensure smooth release of products into manufacturing meeting customer requirements and established timelines.
• Perform risk assessment tests and use results to improve design and reduce risks before reaching manufacturing
• Lead new product development projects from concept through preparation of turnover to manufacturing,
• Establish project plans and milestone charts at the inception of new projects, then track and report on progress.
• Submit monthly project status reports.
• Maintain leading-edge technical proficiency in the areas of metals, corrosion, polymers, and materials characterization techniques by staying abreast of new trends and scientific developments in these fields.
• Train Engineers
• Develop and maintain assigned programs
• Monitors and Troubleshoots projects.
• Test and approve designs and/or prototypes.
• Adheres to quality and safety systems or maintenance of quality and safety standards.


REQUIREMENTS:
• Skills in Solidworks or similar modeling software especially with design of assemblies.
• Knowledge in plastics tooling/automation equipment.
• Team building skills
• Standard business computer skills to include experience with spreadsheets and basic graphing software.
• Good communication skills and knowledge of project management.
• Ability to travel to customer facilities and other PCE, Inc. facilities.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 or related quality standards


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 7+ years experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 3+ years experience in Solidworks or similar software. Pro/E.
