If you're ready to put your engineering expertise to work on projects that power our community, we'd love to hear from you. As a Project Engineer, you'll support the planning, design, coordination, and execution of electric utility infrastructure projects that help deliver safe, reliable power to our customers. Working alongside experienced engineers and cross-functional teams, you'll gain valuable hands-on experience while solving real-world challenges in a dynamic utility environment. This is a temporary position with a defined employment term based on budgeted project needs and is anticipated to continue through the remaining three years of a major infrastructure expansion project. While this role is not eligible for benefits, it provides an exciting opportunity to gain utility engineering experience, contribute to a major generation expansion project, and make a meaningful and lasting impact.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND COMPETENCIES
Responsible for providing engineering support for local power generating facilities and thermal energy facilities for Lincoln Electric System (LES) and District Energy Corporation (DEC). Project management execution for small to medium sized projects from project conception through completion, including defining the detailed project scope with necessary stakeholders and maintaining project budgets and schedules. Also includes material selection, bid evaluations, supervision of contractors and consultants, preparation of feasibility studies, and creating specifications for associated equipment. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal guidance. Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Prepares and/or reviews contracts, standards, drawings, work orders, engineering specifications, and submittal approvals.
  • Monitors the work of consultants, contractors, and equipment suppliers.
  • Prepares technical studies, background information, and documentation for management consideration on various projects and technical matters.
  • Provides project management and engineering support for local power generating facilities and thermal energy facilities, which may require reporting to those facilities on a routine or regular daily basis.

  • Engineer ($81,166 - $101,458) -Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field (prefer electrical for this role) from an ABET accredited school, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Engineer III ($93,342 - $116,678) - Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field (prefer electrical for this role) from an ABET accredited school, and at least three years of progressively responsible engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Senior Engineer ($107,342 - $134,178) - Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field (prefer electrical for this role) from an ABET accredited school, and at least six to ten years of progressively responsible engineering experience in area of assignment and a Professional Engineer License (PE). Or at least ten to fourteen years of progressively responsible engineering experience in area of assignment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
