Clearance: Active DoD TS/SCI Clearance


Work Schedule: Fulltime, On-site Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA; routine travel to <20%, CONUS/OCONUS


Role Overview:ย 

The Senior Systems Engineer serves as the lead technical authority for designing, maintaining, and modernizing the Command and Control (C2) training networks supporting the Marine Operational Command and Control Training Team (MOCTT) and the Marine Corps Information Systems Training Centers (MISTCs). This position provides enterprise-wide engineering oversight across all MISTC locations and the MOCTT COC in Quantico, ensuring that every design, configuration, and integration activity aligns with MCEN standards, DoD cybersecurity requirements, and TECOM training objectives.ย 


The Senior Systems Engineer manages the engineering team at MISTC HQ and is responsible for the design, documentation, and sustainment of high-performance, secure, and repeatable network architectures for classrooms, COCs, labs, and virtualized training environments. This role ensures seamless support to C2 systems training during POI execution, BSTEX events, and technical exchanges. The Senior Systems Engineer also oversees collaborative tool integration and user-support functions for SharePoint, MS Teams, and Microsoft 365 environments used across the MOCTT-MISTC enterprise.ย

  • Familiarity with tactical networks, cross-domain requirements, and C2 systems such as GCCS-J, AFATDS, JADOCS, JWICS/SIPR/NIPR, CENTRIXSย 
  • Experience developing SOPs, configuration guides, and sustainment documentation for distributed technical teamsย 
  • Expertise designing and administering Microsoft 365 collaboration tools (SharePoint, Teams, Outlook) including, Site collections, Libraries/lists, Workflows, Templates, Master pagesย 
  • Experience delivering end-user training for collaborative environmentsย 
  • Ability to translate complex engineering requirements into clear, repeatable technical proceduresย 

Requirements

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fieldย 
  • DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification required within 60 days (Security+ CE, GSEC, SSCP, etc.)ย 
  • Advanced network or cybersecurity certifications preferred (CCNA, CySA+, Network+, etc.)ย 

Experience Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in network engineering, systems engineering, or C2 systems integrationย 
  • Experience supporting Marine Corps or Joint tactical networks preferredย 
  • Experience designing/sustaining geographically distributed training or operational networksย 
  • Experience managing technical teams and coordinating cross-site engineering effortsย

The Senior Systems Engineer is fully embedded within the MISTC HQ enterprise support team, directly supporting the MOCTT Lead/PM and coordinating closely with:ย

Key integration responsibilities include:ย 

  • Leading the development of C2 training network architectures for all MISTC sites and the MOCTT COCย 
  • Managing a distributed team of Systems Engineers and Systems Administratorsย 
  • Overseeing configuration management, cybersecurity compliance, and network standardizationย 
  • Designing, documenting, and updating architectures for MEF-equivalent COC watch floor, MISTC classrooms and labs, BSTEX technical architecturesย 
  • Serving as the technical authority for Microsoft 365/SharePoint/Teams collaboration environment design and governanceย 
  • Providing direct support to major training events, BSTEX deployments, and technical reviewsย 
  • Ensuring all enterprise network changes are reflected in SOPs, guides, and sustainment plansย
