The Role and Responsibilities

As a Controls Engineer, you play a crucial role in ensuring our industrial machinery operates with optimal efficiency, reliability, and precision. You are a cornerstone of our engineering team, equipped with a diverse skill set that covers designing, developing, and testing electrical systems. You participate in on-call rotation every other week, which is essential to continued operations. Your expertise in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) programming and control systems integration is essential for implementing control algorithms and troubleshooting complex systems. By proactively managing and resolving issues, you ensure smooth and uninterrupted production processes, upholding our standards of excellence. Your contributions are integral to our team's success and our company's leadership in the industry.


Your Key Areas of Impact


Design and Development of Electrical Systems: You will design, develop, and test electrical systems for industrial machinery, ensuring seamless integration with control hardware and low voltage systems. This leads to enhanced machinery efficiency and reliability.


PLC Programming and Automation: You will independently design and implement PLC Ladder Logic using Siemens software, optimizing hardware and software for precise process control. By developing automation systems and tools, you will enhance efficiency, increase productivity, and reduce costs.


Technical Interpretation and Integration: You will read and interpret electrical and mechanical design documents, including P&ID drawings and specifications, ensuring accurate implementation. Requirements:

You’ve received your bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in electrical engineering, computer science engineering, computer engineering, or related field, and you’ve spent at least five (5) years in a PLC programming position with a focus on Siemens software. You will work with a high level of integrity, confidentiality, organization, and time management. You are proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as EPlan and AutoCAD Electrical. You are also proficient in PLC programming and integration with instrumentation, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Servo Drives, and Kuka robots.


The Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Travel

Your work is conducted in a dynamic manufacturing setting where exposure to noise and fumes is common, necessitating the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and adherence to safety protocols. You are able to participate in every other week on-call rotation. You must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time, whether standing or sitting, and be able to move about inside the facility. Your work requires manual dexterity, as you will regularly use hands to operate machinery, tools, or controls, and handle or manipulate objects. The ability to hear and discern various sounds and alarms is crucial for maintaining safety and operational efficiency. You operate a computer 90% of the time. You need to be able to lift to 35 lbs. You are available for domestic travel for up to 25% during the initial training period of six (6) months; after that period occasional domestic travel up to two (2) times annually.
