What are some typical challenges faced by Senior Contingent Workforce Managers, and how can they be addressed?

Senior Contingent Workforce Managers often encounter challenges such as balancing cost efficiency with talent quality, ensuring compliance with labor regulations, and managing multiple staffing vendors. These challenges can be addressed by implementing robust vendor management systems, staying current with regulatory changes, and fostering strong partnerships with internal stakeholders like HR and procurement. Proactively communicating expectations and regularly reviewing vendor performance also help maintain high standards and mitigate risks in contingent workforce programs.

Job description

About the Role

Fivetran and dbt Labs are bringing together two industry-leading companies with a shared mission: helping organizations unlock the full value of their data. Together, we're delivering the data infrastructure layer that helps organizations move, transform, and trust their data - from the moment data moves, through every transformation, to the context teams and AI systems rely on. Fivetran helps organizations automate data movement across the systems, clouds, engines, and tools they rely on. dbt Labs pioneered analytics engineering, helping teams transform data into reliable, governed insights. Together, we support thousands of organizations as they build a trusted foundation for analytics, AI, and better business decisions. As we bring our teams and technology together, we're building on the strengths of both companies while continuing to deliver the products and experiences our customers know and trust. It's an exciting time to join us: we're creating a company with the scale, talent, and technology to help more organizations put their data to work with greater speed, confidence, and impact. During this transition period, you may see references to both Fivetran and dbt Labs throughout our recruiting process as we integrate our teams, systems, and career sites.

We're looking for a Senior Manager of Strategic Sourcing to lead high-impact procurement and vendor negotiations across the organization at a pivotal moment: the integration of Fivetran and dbt, where identifying technology synergies and driving cost efficiency is mission-critical.

In this role, you'll own the full sourcing lifecycle for deals ranging from $50K to $500K+, spanning categories including technology/SaaS, marketing, and contingent workforce. You'll build and lead vendor relationships, drive renewals, and partner with Finance, Legal, and business stakeholders to ensure Fivetran gets maximum value from every vendor dollar spent. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment and loves finding the leverage in every deal.

This is a full-time position based out of our Oakland (Bay Area) office. Our hybrid work model offers a blend of remote flexibility and in-person collaboration, including two days in the office each week to connect and build as a team.

Technologies You'll Use

Coupa, Ironclad, Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets, Notion, DocuSign

What You'll Do

  • Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing and procurement for contracts ranging from $50K to $500K+, including RFPs, vendor selection, negotiation, and execution
  • Own vendor management and renewal cycles across key spend categories including SaaS/technology, marketing, and contingent workforce
  • Identify and drive technology consolidation and cost synergy opportunities across the Fivetran and dbt combined vendor landscape
  • Develop and execute category strategies that align with business priorities and deliver measurable savings and risk reduction
  • Partner with Finance, Legal, IT, and functional business owners to ensure sourcing decisions are compliant, commercially sound, and strategically aligned
  • Build and maintain strong vendor relationships, acting as the primary point of escalation for contract disputes, performance issues, and renewals
  • Establish and refine procurement policies, processes, and tooling to scale the sourcing function as the organization grows
  • Report on sourcing metrics, savings targets, and vendor performance to senior leadership on a regular cadence

Skills We're Looking For

  • 6+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or vendor management, ideally within a high-growth technology company
  • Demonstrated success negotiating complex contracts across multiple spend categories (technology/SaaS, marketing, contingent workforce, or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with procurement and contract lifecycle tools, particularly Coupa and Ironclad
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to analyze TCO, benchmark pricing, and structure deals that balance value, risk, and speed
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills - able to influence without authority and navigate competing priorities across cross-functional teams
  • Experience managing vendor renewals and consolidation initiatives, including driving alignment across business units with different priorities
  • Ability to use conversational AI tools (such as Claude or ChatGPT) to accelerate research, contract summarization, vendor benchmarking, and communication drafting

Bonus Skills

  • Experience working through a merger, acquisition, or large-scale integration where vendor rationalization was a key workstream
  • Familiarity with SaaS pricing models, ELAs, and usage-based contracts in a data or analytics software context
  • Experience building or scaling a sourcing function from an early or informal stage
