The Oregon Museum of Science & Industry (OMSI) is currently seeking a Systems Support Specialist who supports the mission of the organization and is responsible for providing technical support and administering the organization's end-user computing environment while assisting with the maintenance, security, and operational reliability of OMSI's information technology systems and infrastructure. This position serves as the primary technical resource for end-user support and plays an integral role in maintaining core infrastructure, cloud services, identity management, endpoint security, and organizational technology initiatives. The Systems Support Specialist collaborates with the IT Manager and the organization's Managed Service Provider (MSP) to maintain secure, reliable technology systems that support organizational goals while delivering exceptional technical support to staff and volunteers. General knowledge of Voice over IP (VoIP) phone systems, including basic configuration, troubleshooting, and support of VoIP hardware and software components. Working knowledge of understanding basic network management principles, including IP addressing, subnetting, DHCP, DNS, and VLANs. Ability to perform basic network troubleshooting, monitor connectivity, and support wired and wireless infrastructure. Familiarity with the use of network tools to diagnose issues and assist with routine configuration and maintenance of switches, routers, and firewalls. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 technologies. Working knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint administration. Knowledge of Azure identity and cloud administration. Knowledge of Active Directory administration and Group Policy management. Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and security best practices. Ability to analyze technical problems, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities. Excellent oral and written communication skills in a non-English priority language. Demonstrated commitment to exceptional customer service. Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
