Job description

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Viant's Finance organization is seeking a Sr. Manager, Operational Finance to support financial and operational decision-making through reporting, analytics, process improvement, and business transformation initiatives. This role partners across Finance, Sales, Operations, Product, and Technology to improve business visibility, drive scalable solutions, and support company growth.

The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, and a proactive "figure it out" mindset. They are data literate and fluent in the concepts behind modern AI tools, including how to prompt effectively, evaluate outputs critically, and apply automation where it adds real leverage. They thrive in ambiguity, move with urgency, and are always looking for a smarter path to the answer.

THE DAY-TO-DAY
  • Own the operational and financial performance management reporting cadence, building and delivering accurate reporting packages that track KPIs, monitor variance to plan, and support both internal decision-making and recurring external reporting requirements for executive and investor audiences
  • Analyze operational and financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and prepare executive-level insights for senior leadership and the finance team
  • Partner cross-functionally with department leaders and project teams to ensure accurate financial data and identify operational enhancements that drive the execution of strategic business transformation initiatives
  • Build ad-hoc financial analyses and models to support emerging business needs, including cloud infrastructure costs, vendor economics, and other cross-functional operational questions, and translate findings into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership
  • Contribute to system implementations and process improvements to enhance scalability, automation, and the reporting of key business metrics
  • Apply working knowledge of AI tools, effective prompting techniques, and modern data workflows to accelerate analysis, reduce manual effort, and continuously raise the bar on the speed and quality of financial insights
GREAT TO HAVE
  • 8+ years of progressive experience, primarily in FP&A, accounting, or finance roles, with broader experience across business operations also considered.  Experience in the AdTech, SaaS, or digital media industry a plus.
  • BS/BA in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field; CPA, MBA, and/or CMA a plus
  • Solid understanding of accounting concepts and the interaction between an income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities. Proficiency in SQL or  relational databases; familiarity with BI tools
  • Strong analytical skills with a sharp eye for relevant details and trends
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly present insights to senior leadership
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving mentality with the ability to work through ambiguity and build solutions from the ground up
LIFE AT VIANT

Investing in our employee's professional growth is important to us, but so is investing in their well-being. That's why Viant was voted one of the best places to work and some of our favorite employee benefits include fully paid health insurance, paid parental leave and unlimited PTO and more.

Base compensation range: $150,000 - $175,000
In accordance with California law, the range provided is Viant's reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role.  Final title and compensation for the position will be based on several factors including work experience and education.
