The team member we are searching for will assist and acts as advisor to community or public agencies, committees or councils engaged in activities designed to prevent juvenile and adult delinquency, or to correct community conditions contributing to delinquency and lack of economic opportunity.

For more information on this position please visit COMMUNITY SERVICES COORDINATOR I Essential Job Functions Assists in the development and organization of community or area-wide committees and councils concerned with prevention of juvenile and adult delinquency and community improvement. Assists community groups on recognizing and evaluating community conditions contributing to delinquency and lack of economic opportunity, planning program activities in relation to community needs, selecting and utilizing public and private resources, and motivating local residents to lead and participate in community betterment and delinquency prevention activities. Clarifies agency policies and programs to the community and promotes better communication and understanding between community and agency.

Assists in planning and publicizing conferences and institutes and attends conferences and institutes in an advisory capacity. Speaks before community groups on subject related to crime and delinquency. Contacts public officials and community leaders to gain their support and cooperation.

Composes or edits written material for the information of groups and agencies concerned with the prevention of juvenile and adult delinquency. Prepares written reports on field activities. Requirements Requirements to Qualify: Option I: Graduation from an accredited college with specialization in the social sciences and completion of one year of graduate work in an accredited college with specialization in the social sciences and either (1) one year's experience working with community groups in activities concerned with delinquency prevention, community relations or community welfare, or (2) two years' probation casework, social casework or social group work experience in a recognized agency, school, institution or camp.

One additional year of the required experience will be accepted for the year of graduate work. Option II: Completion of a two-year graduate curriculum in an accredited school of social work including supervised field work in community organization. Option III: One year as a Community Services Counselor employed by the County of Los Angeles.

Withhold information: No withholds will be allowed. All requirements must be met when filing application. License: A valid California Class C Driver License.

Physical Class: Physical Class II - Light. This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

Desirable Qualifications: Additional credit will be given for experience on desirable qualifications. Certification as a Medi-Cal peer support specialists. 2 years Peer support program facilitation*.

*Facilitation: program development, program evaluation, performance improvement, training and community outreach (responsibilities pulled from the Senior Community Health Worker description). SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION: To receive credit for your education, include a legible copy of your official diploma, official transcript, or letter/certificate from an accredited institution within seven (7) days of filing your application (for open continuous filing periods)/the end of the filing period (for defined filing periods).
