MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must possess a valid Certified Nursing Assistant license in Florida.
  • Must be willing and able to work a schedule that is inclusive of weekends and holidays.
  • Must possess a current CPR card.
  • Must have basic computer skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in a 120-bed skilled long-term care nursing facility.
  • One (1) year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The incumbent for the Senior Certified Nursing Assistant (SCNA) position is responsible to provide direct nursing care to residents of the Alwyn C. Cashe State Veterans' Nursing Home, under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
  • Incumbent will assist with all aspects of resident care as assigned by the shift supervisor, including activities of daily living, ambulation, and mobility in facility.
  • Respond promptly and courteously when answering call lights.
  • Observe, identify, and report resident concerns or needs to the shift supervisor.
  • Complete assignments timely, completely, accurately and in a cooperative manner.
  • Follow established performance standards and perform duties according to nursing service and FDVA policies and procedures.
  • Provide the necessary assistance when giving residents the following activities of daily living nursing care: oral hygiene, bathing, dressing, and grooming, hair and nail care, shaving, toileting, eating and drinking, and mobility.
  • Assist as needed with related functions to, for, and with residents to include activities such as escorting to meals, assisting with laundry, and assisting with participation in activities.
  • Perform restorative measures such as obtaining and recording vital signs/weights, and assistance with self-administration of medications.
  • Document services provided within facility software/databases.
  • Consistently work cooperatively and respectfully with residents, family or resident representatives, facility staff, physicians, ARNP's, consultants and ancillary service providers.
  • Always Follow Residents Rights policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
  • Assist with monitoring and accountability of residents to enable medical personnel to accomplish health related tasks.
  • Attend all in-service programs, training classes, and domiciliary meetings.
  • Assume responsibility and accountability for information contained in the Employee Handbook.
  • Observe all facility safety, infection control and quality improvement, HIPPA policies and procedures, and internal quality improvement processes.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
