Senior Client Advisor information

What is a senior client advisor?

A Senior Client Advisor is a professional who provides expert guidance and support to clients, often in sectors like finance, luxury retail, or consulting. Their role involves understanding client needs, offering tailored solutions, and building long-term relationships. Senior Client Advisors typically have extensive experience and deep knowledge of their industry, allowing them to handle complex client requests and deliver high-level service. They may also mentor junior staff and contribute to business growth through client acquisition and retention.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a senior client advisor?

To thrive as a Senior Client Advisor, you need a deep understanding of client relationship management, sales strategies, and product expertise, usually backed by experience in client-facing roles and relevant industry knowledge. Familiarity with CRM platforms, sales analytics tools, and, in some sectors, certifications like FINRA Series 7 or 66 are typical requirements. Exceptional interpersonal skills, active listening, and problem-solving abilities help build trust and deliver tailored solutions. These competencies are crucial for maintaining long-term client relationships, driving business growth, and ensuring client satisfaction in competitive markets.

How does a senior client advisor typically collaborate with internal teams to address complex client needs?

Senior Client Advisors frequently work cross-functionally, partnering with product specialists, risk managers, and operations teams to deliver comprehensive solutions for clients. This collaboration ensures that client strategies are aligned with the latest market insights and organizational capabilities. Advisors often act as liaisons, facilitating communication and ensuring that all parties are aligned on objectives and deliverables. Building strong internal relationships is key to efficiently resolving complex client requests and driving client satisfaction.

Job description

Are you driven to grow, lead, and make a meaningful impact? At Apex, we're building more than a consulting and engineering firm—we're creating a place where your career accelerates, your contributions matter, and your potential is fully realized. We believe your growth is our growth, which is why we invest in your development at every stage of your career. Here, you'll work on projects that shape communities, protect the environment, and create lasting impact, all while being empowered with the autonomy and flexibility to do your best work.

Fueled by high-quality delivery, exceptional client retention, and strategic acquisitions, Apex Companies continues to rank among the fastest-growing firms in the AEC industry, recently recognized by the Zweig Group for our industry-leading growth. Our success is grounded in strong leadership, a collaborative culture, and a shared commitment to delivering exceptional outcomes.

As we continue to expand, we're looking for high-performing professionals who are ready to lead, collaborate, innovate, and create impact. At Apex, you help shape what's next. When we succeed together, we share in that success. All Apex positions are eligible for annual bonus opportunities, reinforcing our commitment to recognizing and rewarding meaningful contributions that drive our collective growth.

This role is eligible for a minimum $20,000 sign-on bonus, in accordance with the Company's sign-on bonus program and applicable terms and conditions.

Apex is expanding its Infrastructure Practice and seeking a senior leader to build and grow our infrastructure (water, wastewater, stormwater, transportation, civil engineering) business in key Northeast markets (MA, NH, CT).

This is a strategic growth role for a senior, client-facing professional with a strong municipal network and an active book of business. The successful candidate will lead business development and project delivery for municipal infrastructure projects in their local geography, supported by Apex's national resources and multidisciplinary teams.

The role begins as remote with the opportunity to establish and lead a new office in your target market.

If you are an entrepreneurial leader with a track record of building markets, winning work, and delivering impactful infrastructure projects, we invite you to join Apex and help shape the next chapter of our Infrastructure growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Market Growth & Leadership

  • Lead the growth of Apex's infrastructure services within your designated local market.
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to expand relationships with municipal, utility, and public-sector clients.
  • Leverage existing client relationships and your market insight to establish Apex as a trusted regional partner.
  • Collaborate with Divisional and Regional Leadership to align local efforts with Apex's broader infrastructure strategy.

Client Development & Relationship Management

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to municipal and utility clients, understanding their infrastructure priorities and funding mechanisms.
  • Identify and pursue new project opportunities, lead proposal development, and manage interview and negotiation processes.
  • Drive cross-selling of Apex's complementary environmental, construction, and compliance services.
  • Represent Apex at professional associations, technical committees, and industry conferences.

Project Delivery & Fiscal Oversight

  • Oversee delivery of municipal infrastructure projects including water and wastewater treatment, distribution/collection systems, stormwater management, transportation or civil engineering.
  • Ensure technical excellence, quality control, and adherence to scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and QA/QC oversight to project teams.
  • Manage project performance, including backlog, utilization, and profitability metrics.

Team Building & Mentorship

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop engineers, project managers, and technical staff to grow Apex's local presence.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on client satisfaction and technical excellence.

What we're looking for:

  • BS or MS Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or relevant engineering discipline
  • 15+ years of experience in municipal infrastructure
  • Registered Professional Engineer preferred in MA, CT, or NH
  • Demonstrated success in developing new markets, securing key municipal clients, and achieving financial growth targets
  • Strong record of mentoring, team development, and leading cross-discipline project teams
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with clients in a forward-thinking manner to drive growth and sustained performance through effective leadership
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Desire to manage and mentor all levels of staff

Why you'll love working for us:

  • Company-subsidized medical and dental.
  • Company-paid life, short, and long-term disability.
  • 401k match, tuition assistance, and more.
  • Cross-training and the ability to work on a variety of projects.
  • Performance-based bonuses or other incentives.
  • Working with the best and brightest in the industry.
  • 2,000+ employee national firm with 70+ locations across the US.
