Senior Audit Manager Senior Audit Manager
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Audit Manager to lead complex audit engagements, ensure high-quality deliverables, and strengthen client relationships. The Senior Audit Manager will oversee planning and execution of financial statement audits, mentor and develop staff, and ensure compliance with professional standards and firm methodologies. This role is ideal for a proactive leader who combines technical accounting expertise with strong client management and team leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage multiple audit engagements from planning through completion, ensuring timely delivery and high quality.
  • Design audit strategies, assess risk, and develop audit plans tailored to client needs and industry-specific issues.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop audit teams, including staffing, performance feedback, and career development.
  • Review and approve audit workpapers, financial statements, and management letters for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Ensure audits comply with firm policies and professional standards, including GAAP and PCAOB requirements where applicable.
  • Serve as the primary client contact for audit matters, build and maintain strong client relationships, and communicate findings and recommendations effectively to senior management and audit committees.
  • Coordinate with internal specialists (tax, IT, valuation) and external advisors as needed to address complex accounting and control issues.
  • Manage engagement budgets, timelines, and resource allocation to meet profitability and client service goals, and support business development and proposal activities as needed.
Qualifications
  • Active CPA license (required).
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; advanced degree (MS/MA/MBA) or CPA equivalent is a plus.
  • Minimum 7+ years of public accounting audit experience with progressive responsibility; experience leading large or complex engagements.
  • Proven experience managing and developing audit teams, delivering high-quality client service, and handling multiple concurrent engagements.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and the ability to interpret and apply accounting standards.
  • Excellent communication, client-facing, and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to interact with senior management and audit committees.
  • Proficiency with audit software and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Preferred (nice to have): prior experience as a Senior Audit Manager or equivalent, in-depth knowledge of GAAP, and familiarity with PCAOB standards and inspection processes.
