Job description

Company Overview

Semco has become the market leader and manufacturer of rotationally molded poly and welded steel bulk storage and material handling products in North America. Tank is growing rapidly and is always working to expand its capabilities and diversify product offerings consistent with the company values of growth and service to its customers.

Job Summary

Were looking for that person whose primary responsibility would be to work with fellow team members to change over molds and head tooling at end of a production run and setup molds and head tooling for the next production run. These change overs will be on injection and extrusion blow mold machines. This responsibility will require machine utilities to be set up correctly so the mold and head tooling work correctly to produce good parts at startup. Performance of this responsibility will require use of various types of tools, machinery, equipment, lubricants, and cleaning agents.

Key Responsibilities

  • When working on all mold setups and change overs, team supervision will be encouraged and expected.
  • Must be aware at all times of surroundings and be on lookout for issues and take appropriate actions.
  • Must have strong mechanical skills and fully understand functions of various machine components.
  • Required to work with setup team with all phases of the mold change over process and into production.
  • Required to understand and operate machine operator controls, heater settings, and service settings and guide any questions comments or concerns that any technicians may have.
  • Must understand and enforce proper lock-out tag-out procedures while working around machinery.
  • Required experience with heater control and wiring systems. Must be able to properly hook up heaters and thermocouples before machine power is turned on. Must be able to teach and verify others work.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical devices with a multi-meter, temperature scanner, and other test devices.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skills required.
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude required with hands-on mechanical experience preferred.
  • Education (required): High school diploma; technical associates degree in the field of general mechanics, electrical technology, plastics molding technology or equivalent (preferred).
  • Industry experience (required): 5 Years actual work experience in the field of manufacturing maintenance with emphasis on two of three of mechanical, electrical and plastics mold set-up experience.
