We are recruiting for a Vice President, Communications Business Development for our award-winning Segal Benz Communications Practice that will lead revenue growth and high-value client expansion. This role drives complex, multi-disciplinary pursuits and positions Segal as a trusted advisor across employee benefits communications, HR communications, corporate communications, and priority industry verticals. Success is measured by sustained revenue growth, expansion of strategic client relationships, and Segal's market leadership in communications.
Key Responsibilities:
โ€ข Lead complex Segal Benz communications pursuits across practices, markets, and geographies, ensuring client centric, high quality solutions.
โ€ข Achieve annual revenue and growth targets through innovative go to market strategies grounded in market insight and client needs.
โ€ข Own the full pursuit lifecycle-from opportunity qualification through proposal development, pitch strategy, finalist presentations, and transition to delivery teams.
โ€ข Maintain a disciplined, high value pipeline; apply CRM rigor, analytics, and continuous improvement to elevate proposal quality and win rates.
โ€ข Expand Segal's presence in priority and emerging industry verticals while contributing to long term practice growth and positioning.
โ€ข Provide strategic guidance on complex client and business challenges; contribute to thought leadership, intellectual capital, and best practice innovation.
โ€ข Partner with Growth and Innovation and Marketing teams to strengthen sales processes, tools, and pursuit governance.
โ€ข Participate in enterprise initiatives focused on efficiency, innovation, revenue growth, and operational excellence.
โ€ข Build and maintain influential, senior level client relationships; serve as a trusted advisor on high value communications and HR/benefits challenges. โ€ข 12 years of consultative business development experience in a professional services environment, with a demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding revenue goals.
โ€ข Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in communications, marketing, HR, business, or a related field; advanced degree preferred or equivalent progressive professional experience.
โ€ข Deep expertise in Communications, including employee benefits communications, HR communications, and corporate communications or demonstrated ability to integrate complementary Segal consulting services.
โ€ข Proven success closing complex, high-value, multi-disciplinary engagements with strong client satisfaction.
โ€ข Experience selling across multiple industries, with established presence and networks in one or more priority verticals (e.g., corporate/commercial markets, higher education, healthcare, sports/entertainment).
โ€ข Demonstrated ability to design, improve, or scale sales processes, including pipeline management, CRM discipline, pursuit governance, sales analytics, and cross-practice coordination.
โ€ข Exceptional executive-level communication, influence, and relationship-building skills.
โ€ข Strong cross-functional leadership capability and an entrepreneurial, growth-orientated mindset.

Segal's total rewards are part of what makes Segal a special place to work. The current salary range for this position is $150,500 - $200,000 in addition, this position includes a meaningful bonus opportunity. Segal also offers a comprehensive suite of benefits to include a non-contributory defined benefit pension plan, matching and discretionary contributions to a 401(k) profit sharing plan, medical and prescription benefits including contributions to a health savings account for eligible employees, dental benefits, life insurance, disability insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, wellness benefit reimbursements and rewards, and professional credential and tuition reimbursement. Segal also provides comprehensive paid time off including holidays, vacation days, sick leave, paid family leave and sabbaticals.
