Join the team that keeps the ballpark safe, energetic, and running smoothly on gameday.
As a Gameday/Event Security Officer, you'll play a key role in creating a safe and enjoyable environment for fans, staff, and guests. This part-time, event-based role is ideal for individuals looking to gain/provide experience in security, crowd management, hospitality, or public safety - especially students, early-career professionals, and those seeking flexible supplemental income.
Why This Role Could Be a Great Fit for You
You may thrive in this position if you're looking for a flexible, event-driven opportunity and can:

  • Commit to working the majority of home games and scheduled events (approximately 85% after hire).
  • Provide availability for early evening weekday shifts (most shifts begin around 5:00 PM) and weekend events.
  • Stay active and engaged for several hours at a time, including walking ramps/stairs and supporting emergency response when needed.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions and maintain a professional, calm presence.
  • Reliably get to and from the ballpark - even during extended games, weather delays, or peak traffic.
What You'll Do
As part of our event security team, you will:
  • Monitor access points and verify entry credentials for staff, vendors, and authorized personnel.
  • Conduct guest screening using walk-through and hand-held metal detectors and perform bag checks.
  • Support crowd flow, address safety concerns, and assist with de-escalation when needed.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and serve as a welcoming ambassador to fans.
  • Complete incident reports and communicate promptly with supervisors and other departments.
  • Patrol the ballpark, The Battery, and perimeter areas as assigned.
  • Escort employees, players, coaches, VIPs, and guests when required.
  • Participate in post-event security sweeps and secure restricted areas after games.
  • Carry out additional duties that help create a safe, positive gameday experience.
Qualifications
We're looking for individuals who bring professionalism, dependability, and strong people skills:
Required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong verbal communication and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to stand/walk for long periods and remain calm in fast-paced or high-stress situations.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the event calendar.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
Preferred
  • Prior security, military, law enforcement, customer service, or hospitality experience.
  • Training or familiarity with access control, metal detection, and basic search procedures.
  • Conflict-resolution or de-escalation skills.
  • Students majoring in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology, or Public Safety (Juniors and Seniors strongly encouraged to apply).
  • Additional certifications (e.g., P.O.S.T., security training) are a plus but not required.
What This Role Offers
  • A chance to build real-world experience in security, emergency response, and crowd management.
  • Flexible, event-based scheduling that fits around school or another job.
  • An opportunity to contribute to the energy and excitement of live sports and entertainment.
  • A team environment with room to learn, develop, and grow.
