Job description

About the Role
Do you enjoy solving complex security integration challenges and helping transform technical designs into real-world execution? We're looking for a detail-oriented and technically driven Security Systems Engineer to support the coordination, planning, and execution of Division 28 security and integrated systems across complex construction and mission-critical projects.
In this role, you'll work closely with subcontractors, suppliers, BIM/VDC teams, design partners, and field leadership to ensure security systems are fully coordinated, constructable, and ready for successful installation and turnover. You'll play a key role in translating design intent into field-ready work packages while supporting access control, CCTV, head-end architecture, electrified openings, and integrated system interfaces.
From design development through testing and commissioning, you'll help ensure continuity between technical planning and field execution to minimize disruption and support successful project delivery.
What You'll Do - Coordinate Systems. Support Execution.
  • Partner with subcontractors, suppliers, and related trades to validate device requirements, system compatibility, interface points, and installation assumptions.
  • Assist in developing coordinated, field-executable work packages for access control, CCTV, and integrated security systems.
  • Coordinate Division 28 systems with Division 8 door hardware interfaces, ensuring alignment between power, hardware, control, and access requirements.
  • Review device layouts, controller architecture, sequence of operation, and integration requirements during design-assist and design-build phases.
  • Coordinate with BIM/VDC, technical leadership, and field teams to identify and resolve scope gaps and constructability issues before release to the field.
  • Assist in preparing coordinated installation packages for system installation, programming, testing, and integrated system operation.
  • Support submittals, RFIs, revisions, and technical documentation to ensure alignment with project requirements and evolving field conditions.
  • Coordinate with procurement and suppliers to ensure systems and materials support sequencing, design intent, and installation schedules.
  • Assist field teams with technical clarifications, installation questions, and system coordination issues during active construction.
  • Help validate sequence of operation, interface readiness, testing requirements, commissioning preparation, and turnover documentation for security systems.
  • Maintain coordination between Division 28 systems and electrical, fire alarm, network, and door hardware stakeholders to ensure seamless system integration.

Systems & Infrastructure You'll Support
  • Badge readers, controllers, electrified hardware, integrated access management systems, and secure entry solutions
  • IP CCTV infrastructure, recording systems, monitoring environments, and integrated video management platforms
  • Intrusion detection, head-end architecture, monitoring systems, and cross-platform security integrations
  • Data centers, healthcare facilities, secure infrastructure, and technically complex environments requiring high levels of coordination and reliability
  • Coordination across Division 28, Division 8 door hardware, electrical systems, fire alarm systems, and network infrastructure

What You Bring
  • 3-6+ years of experience supporting security systems, low-voltage infrastructure, or related technical construction environments
  • Working knowledge of Division 28 systems including access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and security management platforms
  • Understanding of electrified openings and Division 8 coordination including power, control, and hardware interfaces
  • Familiarity with system integration, sequence of operation, and multi-trade coordination workflows
  • Ability to interpret design documents and translate technical intent into coordinated, field-ready work packages
  • Familiarity with design-assist and design-build project delivery methods
  • Knowledge of RFIs, submittals, revisions, field changes, and turnover processes
  • Strong coordination and communication skills across subcontractors, vendors, design teams, and field operations
  • Strong problem-solving mindset focused on constructability, system integration, and execution readiness
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, schedule-driven construction environments
  • Exposure to mission-critical, healthcare, data center, or similar infrastructure environments is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Information Technology, or related field preferred, or equivalent industry experience
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred
  • Industry certifications and manufacturer platform credentials are a plus

What's in It for You?
  • Work on complex security and integrated systems supporting high-profile infrastructure projects.
  • Partner with engineers, BIM/VDC teams, field leadership, integrators, and vendors to solve real-world coordination challenges.
  • Expand your expertise in integrated systems, technical coordination, and mission-critical project delivery.
  • Every project offers opportunities to improve constructability, integration, and execution outcomes.
  • Comprehensive compensation package including benefits, professional development support, and long-term career growth opportunities.

Work Environment
This role operates within both office and active construction site environments. Responsibilities may include standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds while supporting field coordination and installation activities. Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% as needed to support client meetings, project execution, and site activities. Close visual attention is required for reviewing plans, technical documentation, and field conditions.
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the role.
