DESCRIPTION OF THE DISTRICT:
The Brandon School District is a mid-size school district nestled in Northwest Oakland County. The district has approximately 900 students in junior kindergarten-5th grade between the two elementary schools, approximately 500 at the middle school level and approximately 600 at the high school. This small, tight knit community has a strong connection to its schools and is passionate about the education of its youth. Brandon High School sends 85-90% of its graduates to post-secondary school each year, it was ranked in the 82nd percentile of all schools in the State on the top-to-bottom rankings and it was awarded as a Silver Medal Winner by the US News.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in the role of a secretary preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience using personal computers and related software including Windows and Google Suite.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, district staff and community members.
  • Effective and professional verbal communications, telephone skills and office courtesy.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive material in a confidential manner.
  • Experience in dealing with various sums of money.
  • Strong organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Previous experience working in an educational/athletic setting preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Assists the Athletic Director in the performance of the following:
  • Perform all secretarial duties for the Athletic Director (i.e. ordering supplies, typing correspondence, answering department phone calls, handling parent, coaches and team inquiries, Athletic Boosters requests, and all clerical responsibilities related to the District's athletic programs, etc.)
  • Maintain all activity and general fund accounts, supplying accounting reports to Boosters and coaches; handle all daily deposits.
  • Responsible for all department documentation and records (i.e. purchase orders, physicals, emergency cards, permission slips, trainer fees, team rosters, eligibility reports and ineligibility letters, season awards, program rosters, coaches directory and contracts, early release memo's, building usage for home sporting events, sports flyers for summer mailing and senior night activities, etc.)
  • Help plan and coordinate all athletic events, i.e. banquets, home and away sporting events, coaches meetings, Activity Fair, practice schedules, Picture Day, etc., to include necessary buses, sporting officials, maintenance staff and other details for these programs.
  • Maintain and update the district athletic events on Brandon's web site.
  • Assist coaches as needed (i.e. MHSAA meeting dates, handbooks, account reports, etc.)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director/Designee.

WORKDAY/WEEK: Per BESPA Calendar; 225 Days per Year
