Job description

PositionSummary

The TRIO Student Support Services(SSS) Student Assistant serves as a student ambassador for the program byproviding front-line customer service, supporting student engagementinitiatives, assisting with program events and workshops, and helping maintainthe program's social media presence. This position offers valuable leadershipexperience while ensuring that TRIO participants receive a welcoming andsupportive experience.

The Student Assistant also providesa student perspective in program planning and development to help ensureactivities and services meet the needs and interests of TRIO students.

EssentialDuties and Responsibilities

FrontDesk and Student Engagement

  • Greet students, visitors, and guests in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for students entering the TRIO office.
  • Answer basic questions regarding TRIO services, events, and resources.
  • Assist students with scheduling appointments and connecting with TRIO staff.
  • Maintain a welcoming and organized office environment.
  • Monitor student traffic and assist with sign-in procedures.

SocialMedia and Communications

  • Assist with creating and posting content on TRIO SSS social media platforms.
  • Develop student-centered content including photos, videos, testimonials, and event promotions.
  • Promote TRIO activities, workshops, scholarships, transfer opportunities, and student success stories.
  • Help maintain a consistent and positive TRIO brand image.
  • Collaborate with staff to increase student engagement through digital communications.

Programand Event Support

  • Assist with planning, setup, execution, and cleanup of TRIO workshops, events, transfer visits, and special programs.
  • Help prepare materials and supplies for events and student activities.
  • Support student check-in and attendance tracking during programs.
  • Assist with outreach efforts including tabling, recruitment events, and information sessions.
  • Encourage student participation in TRIO activities and services.

StudentLeadership and Program Input

  • Provide feedback on student interests, concerns, and emerging needs.
  • Participate in brainstorming and planning sessions for student activities and events.
  • Serve as a student voice to help shape engaging and relevant programming.
  • Assist in identifying creative ways to increase student involvement and program visibility.

AdministrativeSupport

  • Perform basic clerical tasks such as filing, copying, data entry, and organizing materials.
  • Assist with inventory of office and event supplies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with FERPA guidelines.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Program Manager.
