Room Attendant 

JOB DESCRIPTION 

DEPARTMENT: Housekeeping 

REPORTS TO:   Executive Housekeeper 

STATUS: Non-Exempt  

JOB SUMMARY 

This is a seasonal position starting mid May and ending mid September. The Room Attendant ensures that guest rooms are clean, comfortable, and inviting, creating a home-away-from-home experience for guests. This role is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in guest rooms and bathrooms, replenishing supplies, and providing friendly, attentive service. The Room Attendant plays a key role in delivering exceptional hospitality and ensuring guest satisfaction. 

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS 

Education & Experience:   

  • Previous hotel housekeeping or laundry experience preferred. 

  • Good communication skills desired. 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

Physical Requirements:  

  • Ability to move, lift, carry, and place objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance and over 35 pounds with assistance. 

  • Ability to push and pull loaded housekeeping carts and other equipment. 

  • Frequent bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. 

  • Ability to stand, kneel, or walk for extended periods across an entire shift. 

General Requirements  

  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times. 

  • Comply with safety and security policies, including proper lifting techniques and PPE use. 

  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays. 

  • Provide friendly and courteous service to guests and team members. 

DUTIES & FUNCTIONS 

Fundamental Requirements: 

  • Clean hallways, stairwells, elevators, and public areas; remove debris and room service trays. 

  • Keep housekeeping closets stocked with linens and supplies; maintain cleanliness and organization. 

  • Assist room attendants with stripping beds, heavy lifting, and priority requests. 

  • Remove trash and soiled linen from guest floors and transport to designated areas. 

  • Deliver guest amenities and special requests (e.g., rollaway beds, cribs, refrigerators, extra linens). 

  • Complete assigned cleaning projects (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly). 

  • Report maintenance issues and complete work orders as needed. 

  • Report and log any lost and found items according to hotel policy. 

  • Clean lobby, public restrooms, and fitness areas. 

  • Assist in laundry operations when required. 

  • Follow all safety protocols, including hazardous material handling and lockout/tag-out procedures. 

  • Provide courteous and prompt assistance to guests; answer questions and escalate concerns when necessary. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management. 

In accordance with New Jersey State Legislature  (New Jersey Legislature Bill S2310 Sca (1R)) which requires private employers with ten (10) or more employees to include a range of pay for all advertised jobs, promotion, or transfer opportunities.  This position pays $15.92 - $16.50/hr dependent on experience.
