Job description

Job Title: Clean Room Extrusion Operator (3rd Shift) ($18.50/hr.)

Job Description

The Clean Room Extrusion Operator works in a highly regulated clean room environment, operating automated rubber and silicone extrusion equipment to produce medical-grade tubing used in life-saving applications. This is a 3rd shift role (11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday) with a contract-to-hire pathway, offering hands-on production work in a fast-paced, FDA-compliant setting. We offer weekly pay with overtime paying time and half. We are looking for individuals to start as soon as possible. Apply Today!

Responsibilities

  • Operate rubber and silicone extrusion machines in a clean room, FDA-regulated environment.
  • Feed silicone and rubber materials into extrusion equipment according to established procedures.
  • Cut extruded tubing and products to precise sizes based on detailed work instructions and specifications.
  • Package finished products and prepare them for final packaging and shipment.
  • Follow documented work instructions to set up and prepare machines for each tubing run, including changeovers.
  • Perform machine changeovers as trained to support different product types and production requirements.
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment while meeting daily output and quality goals.
  • Lift materials and products weighing up to 40–50 pounds as needed throughout the shift.
  • Conduct in-process quality checks on products being run to ensure they meet all standards.
  • Perform visual inspections of tubing and components to identify defects or nonconformities.
  • Complete required documentation and production records accurately and legibly.
  • Stand at the machine for the entire shift while monitoring continuous production runs.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines and FDA-compliance procedures at all times.
  • Adhere strictly to clean room protocols, personal protective equipment requirements, and safety rules.
  • Support production goals by following instructions closely and communicating any issues or deviations promptly.
  • Be available to work full shifts on Saturdays when production needs require additional coverage.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Ability to operate production machinery or equipment in a factory setting.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for cutting and measuring product.
  • Comfort working in a clean room environment with strict GMP and FDA compliance requirements.
  • Ability to follow detailed written work instructions and standard operating procedures to meet production goals.
  • Capability to lift up to 40–50 pounds and stand on your feet for the entire 8-hour shift.
  • Willingness to work 3rd shift (11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m., Sunday–Thursday) and occasional Saturdays as needed.
  • Ability to perform visual inspections and basic quality checks on products.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with continuous machine operation.
  • Reliability and attention to detail in completing documentation and maintaining product quality.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a clean room or sterile production environment is a plus.
  • Experience with injection molding or extrusion machines is highly beneficial.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing or other FDA-regulated industries is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) environments and compliance requirements.
  • Mechanical inclination and interest in learning more advanced extrusion technician skills.
  • Openness to wearing a clean room suit, hair net, and beard net if applicable.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small, highly technical production team across multiple shifts.

Why Work Here?

Employees enjoy a stable, long-tenured workplace with paid breaks and lunches, very low turnover, and a clean, temperature-controlled environment where the work is steady rather than strenuous. The organization offers clear opportunities for growth, including training to become an extrusion technician with higher pay potential, as well as annual performance reviews and the possibility of raises. Team members benefit from a supportive culture that celebrates successes through holiday luncheons, raffles, gift cards, and high-value prizes. Comprehensive benefits include short- and long-term disability coverage, competitive benefits and 401(k), and profit sharing bonuses based on company performance. Above all, employees take pride in producing products that are used in hospitals and veterinary settings and play a direct role in saving human and animal lives.

Work Environment

The role is based in a highly technical, automated extrusion facility with approximately 50 employees across three shifts and nine state-of-the-art extrusion machines. The environment is extremely clean and temperature controlled, with air conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter. There is a sterile room maintained at around 68 degrees, and each employee receives a locker for personal belongings and suits up in a paper gown before every shift, similar to attire worn by medical staff entering surgery. A new gown is provided weekly. Tennis shoes are acceptable, while steel-toe boots are not required.

The facility operates under strict GMP and FDA requirements, and clean room protocols are rigorously enforced. Hair must be tied back with a hairnet worn at all times, and a beard net is required if applicable. For contamination control, employees may not wear fake nails, fingernail polish, make-up, false eyelashes, piercings, or jewelry of any kind in the clean room. Food and drink are not allowed in the clean room area. Production runs continuously, and machines do not stop during the shift, so operators stand at their stations throughout the shift while monitoring and managing the process. The plant produces approximately seven million feet of medical tubing per month for use in hospitals, surgeries, neonatal care, feeding tubes, vaccines, and veterinary health care products, creating a highly purposeful and focused work environment.
