Job description

Empowering Educators. Transforming Math Learning.

At Mathspace, we believe every student can excel in mathematics with the right help at the right time. Our mission is to make math education more personalized, engaging, and accessibleโ€”empowering teachers to meet every learner exactly where they are.

Weโ€™re currently seeking experienced educators to join our seasonal team as Professional Development Specialists across Virginia. If you're passionate about transforming math instruction through innovative technology integrationโ€”and you're looking for a highly flexible role outside the classroomโ€”weโ€™d love to hear from you!

About the Role

As a Seasonal Professional Development Specialist, youโ€™ll deliver high-impact professional learning experiences to teachers and school leaders. You'll guide them through the implementation and best practices of Mathspaceโ€™s digital solutions, helping them enhance instruction, personalize learning, and use data effectively.

Youโ€™ll lead engaging sessions both virtually and onsite at schools across Virginia, depending on divisions' needs. This role is ideal for educators seeking flexible, meaningful workโ€”especially over the summer and during the back-to-school season.

During peak summer implementation, this role will involve multiple sessions per week, travel between sites, and dynamic scheduling based on district needs.

Youโ€™ll receive onboarding and ongoing support from the Mathspace team to ensure youโ€™re equipped to deliver high-quality sessions confidently.

Requirements

  • A current or former educator with at least 2 years of classroom teaching experience (math preferred, grades 6โ€“12 ideal)
  • Passionate about supporting teachers and improving mathematics instruction through the use of effective tools, coaching, and collaboration
  • Experienced in leading professional development, instructional coaching, or training sessions for educatorsโ€”either in-person or virtually
  • Technically proficient and confident using tools such as:
    • Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas, Schoology, Google Classroom, Classlink)
    • EdTech platforms (e.g., Mathspace, Desmos, GeoGebra, Khan Academy)
    • Video conferencing tools (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams)
    • Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite (Docs/Word, Slides/PowerPoint, Sheets/Excel)
    • Data platforms or dashboards used for instructional decision-making
  • Comfortable analyzing student performance data and guiding educators in data-driven instructional practices
  • A confident, engaging presenter with excellent verbal and written communication, facilitation, and time management skills
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and able to manage multiple assignments across schools or districts
  • Located within or near the state of Virginia, ideally near major areas or regional hubsโ€”open to applicants across the state
  • Willing and able to travel locally (up to 80%) with a valid driverโ€™s license and reliable transportation
  • Open to air travel and overnight trips, especially during peak implementation seasons
Bonus Points If You...
  • Have experience delivering or supporting math instruction using Mathspace in a classroom or district setting
  • Are familiar with 2023 Virginia Standards of Learning for Mathematics (SOLs) and curriculum alignment for grades 6โ€“12
  • Have supported district- or school-level implementations of EdTech tools or digital learning platforms
  • Bring experience working with multilingual learners, students with disabilities, or advanced academic populations
