Job description

Job Description:
Manufacturing Engineer II is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes to support the production of high-quality HVAC systems. This role applies advanced engineering principles to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure product consistency. The position contributes to departmental and organizational goals by driving process improvements, supporting cross-functional initiatives, and mentoring junior engineers. It serves as a key technical resource in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Lead the design and implementation of manufacturing processes, equipment layouts, and production workflows to improve efficiency and safety.
  • Analyze production data and process performance to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with product design, quality, and operations teams to ensure manufacturability and alignment with production capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Support the introduction of new products and technologies into manufacturing by coordinating trials, validations, and training.
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools, equipment, and technologies to enhance production capabilities.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Manufacturing Engineer I and other team members.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects focused on lean manufacturing, cost reduction, and quality improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards in all engineering activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a four-year ABET-accredited degree in engineering or an equivalent technical degree in applied sciences; 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role within the HVAC or a similar industry; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes and production systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and specifications
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities
  • Experience with process improvement tools and methodologies
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Familiarity with safety and regulatory compliance in a manufacturing environment

Essential Mental and Physical Functions:
  • This role requires a balance of technical analysis and hands-on engagement with production operations. The engineer must be able to manage complex projects while maintaining attention to detail and safety.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken form
  • Strong decision-making and organizational skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Sit or stand for up to 95% of work hours
  • Periodic visits to the manufacturing floor with exposure to seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and chemical fumes

Work Environment:
  • The Manufacturing Engineer II works in both office and production environments, requiring flexibility and a strong safety mindset.
  • Work is performed in a combination of office and factory settings
  • Exposure to loud noise, dust, temperature fluctuations, and industrial equipment
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when on the production floor
  • Regular collaboration with engineering, quality, and production teams
  • This position is designated as a safety-sensitive role and is subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing
  • Compliance with all company safety and operational policies is mandatory
