Job description

Safety & Security Coordinator

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an EHS and Security Coordinator. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining safety and security protocols to ensure the well-being and protection of our employees, visitors, and assets. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in safety and security management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to create and enforce policies to minimize risks.

EHS And Security Coordinator Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and continuously improve safety and security policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety and security audits to identify potential hazards or vulnerabilities and create action plans to address them.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all safety programs, including Safety Data Sheet (SDS) management and chemical labeling compliance
  • Ensure availability, proper use, and enforcement of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) across all departments
  • Collaborate with department managers to develop and deliver safety and security training programs for employees, including emergency response procedures.
  • Maintain and update safety and security manuals, documents, and records to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
  • Coordinate with external agencies, such as law enforcement and fire departments, to ensure effective emergency response and incident management.
  • Monitor security systems, including access control, surveillance cameras, and alarms, and promptly respond to any identified issues or alarms.
  • Investigate and report on safety and security incidents, including accidents, theft, vandalism, or unauthorized access, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities and implement appropriate measures to mitigate risks.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging trends, and technological advancements in safety and security to continuously improve protocols and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement crisis management plans and business continuity strategies.
  • Develop and lead safety and emergency response training programs, including New Hire safety orientation and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
  • Foster a culture of accountability by coaching supervisors and employees on safety standards, PPE compliance, audit participation, and adherence to policies.

Safety And Security Coordinator Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of safety and security regulations, particularly in heavy manufacturing, with an emphasis on OSHA compliance. Experience with Workers' Compensation and general liability insurance is required
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate safety and security information to diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address potential risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficient in the use of security systems, such as access control, surveillance cameras, and alarms.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and drive change within the organization.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in safety and security management, preferably in a corporate or industrial setting
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal safety and security regulations.
  • Experience in conducting safety and security audits, risk assessments, and investigations.
  • Familiarity with crisis management and business continuity planning.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong physical fitness and the ability to respond to emergency situations, if required.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a proven track record of influencing and driving organizational change
  • Certifications preferred: OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR.
