Job description

The Sales Development Representative (SDR) is responsible for generating and scheduling qualified sales appointments for Kurv's outside Direct Sales team. Working from assigned geographic territories and company-provided lead lists, the SDR proactively contacts prospective merchants to introduce Kurv's credit card processing solutions and secure in-person or virtual appointments for Direct Sales Representatives. This role is a critical driver of the sales pipeline and requires a self-motivated, resilient, and organized communicator who thrives on consistent outbound activity and measurable results.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Place a high volume of outbound calls daily to prospective merchants within an assigned territory using company-provided lead lists.
  • Set a minimum of 8-10 qualified sales appointments per week for outside Direct Sales Representatives.
  • Clearly and professionally communicate Kurv's credit card processing value proposition to generate prospect interest.
  • Qualify leads by confirming business ownership/decision-making authority, current processing setup, and general fit before scheduling an appointment.
  • Supplement company-provided leads with self-sourced leads (e.g., Yelp, Google Business, local business directories, referrals) when doing so improves appointment quality or volume.
  • Accurately log all call activity, outcomes, and appointment details in the CRM/Paycom or designated system in real time.
  • Coordinate directly with assigned Direct Sales Representatives to confirm appointment details, territory coverage, and scheduling preferences.
  • Follow up on rescheduled, canceled, or no-show appointments to maximize territory conversion.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Kurv's products, pricing structure, and competitive positioning to handle basic prospect questions and objections.
  • Meet or exceed weekly and monthly KPIs for call volume, contact rate, and appointments set.
  • Participate in ongoing coaching, call reviews, and training to continuously improve talk track and conversion rate.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable telemarketing regulations (e.g., Do-Not-Call lists, calling hours) and internal company policy.

LEAD SOURCING

SDRs are provided with a defined territory and company-generated lead list as their primary source of outreach. SDRs who demonstrate strong performance may supplement their pipeline with self-generated leads from external sources such as Yelp or other local business listing platforms, provided all leads comply with Kurv's compliance and Do-Not-Call requirements. Any self-sourced leads and their outcomes must be logged consistently with company-provided leads.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS / KPIS

  • Minimum 8-10 set appointments per week (kept/held appointments tracked separately as a quality metric).
  • Daily call volume and talk-time targets as defined by sales leadership.
  • Appointment show/hold rate and lead-to-appointment conversion rate.
  • CRM/Paycom data hygiene - timely and accurate logging of all activity.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1+ year of experience in outbound calling, telemarketing, appointment setting, inside sales, or a similar phone-based role.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to build rapport quickly and handle objections confidently.
  • Comfortable with high call volumes and a metrics-driven work environment.
  • Basic proficiency with CRM systems, Paycom, or similar sales/scheduling tools (or the ability to learn quickly).
  • Highly organized with strong time-management and follow-up skills.
  • Reliable, coachable, and self-motivated with a positive, resilient attitude toward rejection.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience in payments, financial services, credit card processing, or B2B outbound sales.
  • Experience self-sourcing leads through platforms such as Yelp, Google Business, or similar directories.
  • Bilingual candidates a plus, depending on territory.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Primarily a phone-based, in-office role requiring extended periods of sitting and talking on the phone.
  • Ability to use a computer, telephone/headset, and standard office equipment for extended periods.
  • Fast-paced environment with daily performance tracking and regular coaching feedback.
