JURY ASSISTANT

DEPARTMENT:                             Elkhart County Judiciary

HIRING RANGE:                           $23.46-$26.06/hour based on education and position related experience. Longevity pay after 3 years.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:          Within County (please complete driving page on application)

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for assisting in jury management, assisting in developing and administering jury system, generating, printing, and processing preliminary juror qualification postcards, questionnaires, summons and reports, and ensuring sufficient, qualified panel of jurors while strictly adhering to Indiana Code, Supreme Court Jury Rules, and local judicial policy.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
    Associate degree in criminal justice, social work, public administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
    Thorough knowledge of standard practices and procedures of the Court, legal terminology, Indiana Code, Supreme Court Jury Rules, and local judicial policies 
    Working knowledge of and ability to make practical use of jury questionnaires, summonses, statistical reports, and Court documents 
    Knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and ability to type with speed and accuracy
    Excellent organizational and communication skills and a sound knowledge of office procedures and practices
    Pre-employment background check and drug screen
